📋 Description

• Harmattan AI, a rapidly growing defense technology company at the forefront of autonomous systems, is seeking a motivated HR Operations Apprentice to join its dynamic People Team. This role is crucial for supporting the company's ambitious expansion following a significant $200M Series B funding round, which has valued the company at $1.4 billion. As an apprentice, you will be instrumental in scaling our global operations across France, Switzerland, and the US, contributing to the development of a world-class team. You will gain invaluable exposure to a comprehensive spectrum of HR functions, including payroll, legal compliance, talent development, and fostering a strong internal culture, all within a demanding environment that values rigor, ownership, and exceptional execution.
• In this pivotal role, you will be deeply involved in the day-to-day HR operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of the employee lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the onboarding and offboarding processes for both French and international entities, meticulously preparing all necessary paperwork, and providing clear, friendly support to employees regarding HR administrative matters. You will work in close coordination with local partners to guarantee strict adherence to all legal requirements, ensuring compliance across different jurisdictions. A key part of your role will involve managing the initial interactions with newly hired candidates and their respective local managers, fostering a welcoming and efficient dialogue that sets a positive tone for their journey with Harmattan AI. Furthermore, you will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our HR Operations, gaining a deep understanding of what truly matters to our employees and helping to elevate our function to a high-performing standard.
• Beyond daily operations, you will have the opportunity to engage in strategic projects that enhance the overall employee experience and company culture. This includes actively participating in the design and execution of internal events, team rituals, and various engagement initiatives aimed at fostering a connected and motivated workforce. You will also support our Learning & Development (L&D) and training programs by assisting in the identification of critical skill gaps within the organization, researching and sourcing external training providers, and coordinating the implementation of global programs. A significant aspect of your contribution will be in optimizing our HR Information System (HRIS) workflows, identifying opportunities to automate manual tasks and thereby improving the user experience for both managers and employees. Additionally, you will play a role in enhancing our internal communication strategies by drafting engaging newsletters and crafting important messaging for key company milestones, such as performance reviews, goal-setting periods, and compensation campaigns, ensuring all employees are well-informed and aligned.

🎯 Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Tier-1 Master’s program with a focus in HR, Business, Legal Studies, or a related field.
• Strong interest in HR processes, labor law, and organizational efficiency, with a focus on operational aspects.
• Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
• Comfortable with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) and curious about HRIS/Productivity tools (Confluence, Notion etc.).
• Collaborative, humble, and eager to learn; no task is too small.
