đź“‹ Description
- • Join Open LMS, a leading provider of Moodle-based Learning Management Systems, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online education for millions of learners worldwide.
- • As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic DevOps team, responsible for building and maintaining the robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems that power our global eLearning services.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to combine software and systems engineering expertise to enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of our services, which are deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- • You will contribute directly to a platform used by over a thousand clients, supporting nearly 4 million users globally, making a tangible impact on the educational landscape.
- • Our team operates with a flexible and agile methodology, fostering a creative and energetic environment where innovation is encouraged and collaboration is key.
- • A core aspect of your role will involve leveraging automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to continuously refine our AWS infrastructure.
- • This includes optimizing configurations for services such as RDS, EC2, Autoscaling groups, S3, Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL, WAF, NAT GW, and ALB, ensuring maximum efficiency and uptime.
- • You will be deeply involved in performance tuning and configuration of both Linux systems and application parameters, essential for supporting highly concurrent web stacks.
- • Managing infrastructure through code is paramount, utilizing configuration management and IaC templating software like Terraform and Puppet to maintain consistency and enable rapid deployments.
- • A significant part of your contribution will be in documenting procedures and creating knowledge base articles, capturing insights gained from problem resolution and architecture development processes.
- • This documentation is crucial for knowledge sharing, onboarding new team members, and ensuring the long-term maintainability of our systems.
- • You will be responsible for monitoring the availability, performance, and overall health of our production systems, employing a suite of monitoring tools including Icinga, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and Loki.
- • Your efforts in monitoring will directly support our commitment to meeting stringent Service Level Objectives (SLOs), ensuring a seamless experience for our users.
- • This role requires active participation in emergency incident response, including being part of an on-call roster to address critical issues promptly.
- • We champion a culture of continuous improvement, which includes practicing blameless postmortems following incidents.
- • These postmortems are designed to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and ultimately enhance system resiliency while reducing alert fatigue for the team.
- • You will work with a variety of scripting languages to automate system processes, streamlining operations and reducing manual intervention.
- • Analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale, multi-region deployments in a public cloud environment, specifically AWS, will be a regular part of your responsibilities.
- • You will gain extensive experience with IaC practices, CI/CD pipelines, and structured configuration formats like JSON or YAML, alongside proficiency in version control solutions such as Git.
- • Familiarity with cloud deployment and management tools like Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible is essential for effective infrastructure management.
- • Experience with the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MariaDB/PostgreSQL/Aurora MySQL) is crucial, as it forms the backbone of many of our applications.
- • A fundamental understanding of database administration and structured query language (SQL) will be necessary for managing our data infrastructure.
- • Knowledge of standard network application protocols, including HTTPS, SMTP, and DNS, is required for ensuring secure and efficient communication across our services.
- • You will contribute to the overall architecture and design of our infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and technical best practices.
- • This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about building and operating highly available and performant systems.
- • Your work will directly contribute to Open LMS's mission of empowering educators and enabling learners to achieve their full potential through accessible lifelong learning.
- • You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies and contribute to a product that has a significant positive impact on education globally.
- • We encourage proactive problem-solving and a continuous learning mindset, as the technology landscape is constantly evolving.
- • This position offers a remote work arrangement within Colombia, providing flexibility and work-life balance.
- • You will be part of a global team, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and expertise.
- • The role demands a strong analytical approach to problem-solving, coupled with excellent communication and documentation skills, ensuring clarity and efficiency in all team interactions.
- • You will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports a critical educational technology platform.
- • This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer looking to make a significant contribution to the ed-tech industry.
