📋 Description

• The Insurance Expert (AI Residency) role at Aptura Inc. involves collaborating with leading AI labs to improve how artificial intelligence models reason and make decisions in high-stakes insurance domains such as underwriting, actuarial modeling, and portfolio management.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and iterating realistic prompts to test AI-generated insights, systematically evaluating differences between human expert judgment and AI outputs, designing frameworks that translate professional insurance reasoning into AI-testable problems, and constructing and validating real-world benchmarks using underwriting cases, actuarial analyses, and investment models.
• The role is part of Mentis AI, a team with direct experience from institutions like Lazard and Partners Group, focused on advancing AI reasoning in professional domains starting with institutional finance and now expanding into insurance.
• This residency offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in frontier AI development, contribute to the evaluation of AI systems in insurance contexts, and build expertise at the intersection of insurance expertise and artificial intelligence.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience at a major P&C or Life insurance carrier in an Associate or VP-level role
• Expertise in one of the following areas: Investments (fixed income/multi-asset portfolios, ALM, duration matching, RBC/Solvency II), Underwriting (risk selection, pricing, loss modeling), or Actuarial (FSA/FCAS or near-credentialed, with experience in reserving, pricing, or capital modeling)
• Ability to clearly and precisely articulate insurance-specific analytical judgment in writing
• Strong intellectual curiosity about the application of AI in the insurance industry
