- • The Insurance Program Manager at Pennsylvania State University designs and administers commercial property/casualty insurance and self-insurance programs for the University and Penn State Health, playing a critical role in risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation to protect institutional assets and support strategic initiatives.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with the Chief Risk Officer, insurance brokers, and insurers to assess exposures and coverage needs, designing insurance programs (including use of the University’s captive), advising leadership on risk interpretation, leading risk efforts during acquisitions, advocating for favorable insurance terms in contracts, and ensuring alignment between insurance coverages and contractual requirements.
- • The role sits within Penn State’s risk management function, working closely with University and Penn State Health leadership to advance enterprise risk mitigation strategies and support the institution’s mission of teaching, research, and service through sound risk financing and transfer practices.
- • The successful candidate will deepen expertise in commercial insurance, risk management, and captive utilization while developing strategic influence across a large, complex organization, gaining experience in enterprise risk leadership and contributing to the University’s resilience and long-term sustainability.
