📋 Description
- • The Insurance Verification Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate verification of insurance benefits and prior authorizations for outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory surgery services at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, directly supporting patient access to care and revenue cycle integrity.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include verifying patient insurance coverage, obtaining prior authorizations for procedures and hospitalizations, securing PCP referrals and predeterminations, contacting patients or families to gather missing demographic or insurance information, and informing patients of applicable co-pays due for services.
- • The role is part of the James | Precert and Financial Counseling department within the Finance career band, specifically in the Revenue Cycle Pre-certification sub-function, contributing to a team focused on financial clearance and patient financial services.
- • This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in healthcare reimbursement, medical terminology, payer requirements, and multi-system navigation while building strong communication and organizational skills in a self-directed, patient-facing environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School Diploma or GED
- • Minimum 6 months of experience in customer service or a healthcare environment
- • Proficiency in PC use, including Windows, Excel, and intranet/internet navigation tools
