- • The Insurance Verification Representative plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive timely and accurate insurance verification, enabling smooth access to care and supporting the financial integrity of the UHealth system.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include verifying patient eligibility and benefits via UChart, online portals, and phone; updating insurance information in patient records; obtaining authorizations and referrals for services; documenting co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs; communicating with patients, providers, and health plans; meeting productivity and quality standards (95%+ QA goal); participating in process improvements; and providing customer service to patients and staff regarding insurance-related inquiries.
- • The role is part of the University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office, which supports South Florida’s only university-based health system, delivering leading-edge patient care through the Miller School of Medicine. The team serves over one million patient encounters annually across more than 100 specialties, with a mission rooted in excellence in teaching, research, and patient care.
- • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in healthcare insurance processes, authorization workflows, and patient financial navigation; enhance communication and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments; gain experience with Epic and other healthcare systems; and contribute to process improvements that directly impact patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School Diploma or equivalent
- • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in Insurance Verification and Registration
- • Computer literate (EPIC scheduling and registration application experience a plus)
- • Strong written and oral communication skills
- • Ability to work in a team environment and remain graceful under pressure
- • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance authorization/referral guidelines and requirements
