- • The Integrated Operations Engineer II role at Rocket Lab USA, Inc. is critical to ensuring the safe and successful testing, launch, and on-orbit operations of Electron launch vehicles and Photon spacecraft, directly supporting missions that advance scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate change monitoring, national security, and technology demonstrations.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing for and conducting testing and launch operations, defining test requirements, developing and executing procedures, monitoring real-time console operations, troubleshooting issues, performing failure investigations and root cause analyses, reviewing post-test and post-flight data, and continuously improving integration and testing processes.
- • The role is based in Auckland, New Zealand, and requires domestic and international travel to support operations at facilities including the Auckland Mission Control Centre, propulsion test sites, and launch complexes in Mahia and Wallops Island.
- • The Engineer II will work within Rocket Lab’s Integrated Operations team, contributing to process and tool development, gaining hands-on experience with launch vehicle systems, and developing expertise in high-stakes aerospace operations while supporting the company’s mission to increase access to space.
🎯 Requirements
- • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- • 1-2 years of experience in engineering design, test, and/or operations.
- • Experience and/or expertise with mechanical systems including structures, mechanisms, propulsion, pressurization, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, instrumentation, or command & control systems.
- • Ability to maintain situational awareness and real-time communications throughout complex operations.
- • Careful work ethic with an eye for detail.
- • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- • Self-driven, motivated, and contagiously positive attitude.
