📋 Description
- • Step into a pivotal leadership role as the Interim Vice President, Development at the Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a better, people-first technology future. This 7-month fixed-term position offers a unique opportunity to provide essential leadership and ensure continuity for our critical fundraising initiatives during a period of maternity leave.
- • As a key member of our organization, you will champion the belief that the internet should be a force for good—open, safe, and inclusive by design. Your leadership will directly support the mission of ensuring the internet remains a global public resource, accessible to all.
- • The Development Team is at the forefront of securing the philanthropic support that fuels this vital mission. You will guide a team responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships with individual donors, foundations, and strategic partners who share our vision for a healthier internet. This includes leading grassroots fundraising, institutional giving, and major gifts strategies to power advocacy, education, open-source innovation, and global convenings like MozFest.
- • In this role, you will provide experienced leadership, ensuring stability and momentum across our most critical fundraising priorities. You will directly manage a high-performing team, including the Senior Director - Development, Director - Development Operations, Major Gifts Officer, and Program Manager - Development Initiatives, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to maintain progress toward annual fundraising goals across major gifts, institutional giving, and grassroots revenue streams. You will guide the execution of donor strategies and pipeline development plans that are already in motion, ensuring seamless progression and maximizing impact.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve partnering cross-functionally to design and activate a robust philanthropic engagement strategy for MozFest 2026. This will require strategic thinking, collaboration, and a deep understanding of how to engage diverse stakeholders to support our flagship event.
- • You will also provide crucial support for prioritization and decision-making related to development operations systems and processes. Your insights will help refine our infrastructure, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in our fundraising efforts.
- • Clear and consistent communication is paramount. You will be responsible for providing regular, strategic updates and reports to the Executive Director and the broader leadership team, keeping them informed of progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- • You will lead and support a multi-functional fundraising team, fostering a positive and productive atmosphere. This includes maintaining team morale, ensuring adherence to fundraising best practices, and holding regular 1:1 meetings and team touchpoints to guarantee alignment and accountability.
- • As the Development representative on the Executive Team, you will contribute to organizational strategy and decision-making, ensuring the development function is integrated and aligned with overall goals.
- • You will meticulously monitor progress against annual fundraising goals, providing monthly updates to leadership. Utilizing existing dashboards and systems, you will track donor engagement, revenue, and pipeline health, identifying and flagging strategic risks and opportunities to the Executive Director.
- • Your expertise will be instrumental in co-designing and leading the 2026 MozFest philanthropic engagement strategy, encompassing donor prospect development and cultivation planning. You will advise and support team members on donor cultivation and solicitation strategies, empowering them to achieve their targets.
- • You will establish key performance metrics, track progress diligently, and document learnings to inform and enhance future fundraising cycles. This role is fundamentally stewardship-focused, ideal for a seasoned fundraising executive who can seamlessly integrate into an established strategy, provide stability, and sustain forward momentum.
- • This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact on a mission-driven organization, contributing to a healthier and more open internet for everyone. Your leadership will be instrumental in securing the resources needed to advance Mozilla's groundbreaking work.
