- • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to build functional, beautiful user interfaces using Ruby on Rails, Hotwire (Turbo & Stimulus), and modern JavaScript.
- • Develop, enhance, and maintain responsive web applications with a focus on performance, accessibility, and mobile-first design, including Turbo Native mobile experiences.
- • Work design-forward in code, shaping UIs directly without waiting for pixel-perfect handoffs, treating design as an integral part of the coding process.
- • Contribute to and evolve Zipline’s design system using View Components and Lookbook, ensuring consistency and scalability across the platform.
- • Build and iterate on prototypes directly in code, leveraging the existing design system as a foundation for rapid development.
- • Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) as a natural part of the daily workflow to increase velocity without compromising code quality.
- • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient front-end code that supports large, distributed engineering teams and scales with product growth.
- • Diagnose and resolve front-end issues to ensure a smooth, high-performance user experience across devices and browsers.
- • Optimize applications for speed and responsiveness, with attention to loading times, interactivity, and accessibility standards.
- • Write clear functional requirement documents and technical guides that enable other engineers to understand and extend your work independently.
- • Stay current on front-end tooling, emerging patterns, and AI-augmented development practices to continuously improve team workflows and product quality.
- • Work in an asynchronous, fully remote environment with strong time management and proactive communication skills to deliver high-quality results independently.
- • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve usability, performance, and overall user satisfaction across Zipline’s SaaS platform serving retail, healthcare, and logistics customers.
- • Contribute to a culture of craftsmanship where clean code, polished UI, and attention to detail are baseline expectations, not afterthoughts.
- • Engage with remote collaboration tools including Slack, JIRA, and Confluence to coordinate work and maintain alignment across global teams.
- • Participate in continuous learning through unlimited access to Udemy Business and stay informed on advancements in AI-augmented software development.
- • Support mentoring and knowledge sharing with other engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented engineering culture.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years experience in a front-end developer role.
- • Professional experience with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML at scale.
- • Hands-on experience with Turbo, Stimulus, or the broader Hotwire ecosystem.
- • Ability to identify and fix UI issues in code without requiring designer redlines.
- • Experience building within and contributing to a design system using View Components and Lookbook.
- • Comfort using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) as part of the daily development workflow.
