Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As the IT Operations Specialist at Lakera AG in Zürich, you will play a pivotal role in securing and scaling the technological foundation of a fast-growing AI security startup that protects Fortune 500 companies, startups, and foundation model providers from adversarial AI risks. Your work directly enables the company’s mission to secure the era of intelligent compute by ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient IT operations that support innovation at scale.
- • You will be instrumental in shaping Lakera’s IT infrastructure during a critical phase of growth, contributing to a mission-driven team that values technical excellence, automation, and proactive security — making this role ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to see their impact grow alongside the company.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include managing Lakera’s IT infrastructure and endpoints using Kandji as the primary MDM solution, ensuring seamless device lifecycle management across macOS and mobile platforms.
- • You will ensure smooth IT operations as the company scales by proactively monitoring systems, resolving incidents, and maintaining high availability of core services including Google Workspace, network hardware, and endpoint security tools.
- • Collaborating closely with corporate security, you will harden endpoints and networks, implement security best practices, and support vulnerability management and compliance efforts to protect sensitive data and AI systems.
- • You will own the end-to-end employee lifecycle by onboarding and offboarding staff efficiently, streamlining workflows through automation (including Bash scripting) to reduce manual effort and improve experience.
- • Providing responsive, user-focused IT support to employees across time zones and locations, you will troubleshoot hardware, software, and access issues while maintaining clear communication and documentation.
- • You will maintain accurate, up-to-date IT documentation covering infrastructure diagrams, SOPs, access controls, and incident response playbooks to ensure knowledge sharing and operational resilience.
- • Configuring and maintaining network hardware (firewalls, switches, access points), diagnosing connectivity issues, and optimizing performance for remote and office-based teams will be a regular part of your role.
- • You will engage with third-party vendors to manage service contracts, negotiate SLAs, evaluate new tools, and ensure cost-effective, reliable delivery of IT services such as cloud platforms, security tools, and hardware procurement.
- • Beyond reactive support, you will proactively train and guide employees on IT best practices, security hygiene (e.g., phishing awareness, password management), and efficient use of corporate tools to foster a culture of shared responsibility.
- • You will continuously identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks using Bash scripting and other tools, improving efficiency and reducing human error in provisioning, configuration, and reporting.
- • About the team and company: Lakera is a mission-driven, rapidly scaling startup at the forefront of AI security, backed by strong investor support and trusted by global enterprises. The team is collaborative, technically deep, and committed to learning — valuing initiative, ownership, and a builder’s mindset.
- • In this role, you will gain deep exposure to enterprise-grade IT and security operations in a high-impact AI context, develop expertise in modern MDM and zero-trust principles, and grow into a trusted IT leader who can shape infrastructure strategy as the company expands globally.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure management, or technical support roles, preferably in a tech-driven or startup environment.
- • Proficiency in macOS administration and hands-on experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms, specifically Kandji or similar (Jamf, Intune).
- • Strong Bash scripting skills for automation of IT tasks such as user provisioning, software deployment, and system configuration.
- • Proven experience as a Google Workspace administrator, including user lifecycle management, security settings, and troubleshooting.
- • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues across endpoints, networks, and SaaS applications.
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service oriented approach to supporting diverse technical and non-technical users.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus equity participation in a fast-growing AI security startup with significant upside potential.

- • Generous vacation entitlement and additional paid time off for personal development, volunteering, or wellness.
- • Access to cutting-edge AI security projects and opportunities to learn from experts in AI safety, adversarial robustness, and enterprise security.
- • Professional development stipend for courses, certifications (e.g., Apple Certified Support Professional, Google Workspace Admin), and conferences relevant to IT and security.
- • Modern, well-equipped office in central Zürich with ergonomic workspaces, healthy snacks, and regular team events fostering a strong sense of community.
- • Opportunity to contribute to open-source and community initiatives like Gandalf, Lakera’s globally recognized AI security CTF platform, enhancing your visibility in the tech and security communities.
