Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
• Join Nearform as a JavaScript Software Engineer on a fully-remote, contract basis and help us craft world-class digital products for global enterprises. You will be embedded in cross-functional squads that ship production-grade Node.js, React and TypeScript applications at speed and scale.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery—from refining user stories and architecting micro-services to writing clean, test-driven code and shepherding releases through CI/CD pipelines on AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Collaborate daily with designers, product owners and DevOps engineers in an agile, Kanban-driven environment; participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming and blameless retros to continuously raise the bar.
• Champion best practices: enforce ESLint/Prettier standards, maintain >80 % unit-test coverage with Jest, drive peer reviews via GitHub PRs, and document architectural decisions in lightweight ADRs.
• Build and evolve serverless APIs, GraphQL gateways and event-driven systems that handle millions of requests per day while keeping latency p99 < 200 ms and availability > 99.9 %.
• Optimise front-end performance by implementing code-splitting, lazy-loading and SSR strategies in Next.js or Remix, achieving Lighthouse scores > 90 across all Core Web Vitals.
• Contribute to open-source libraries maintained by Nearform (e.g., Fastify, Clinic.js) and represent the company at meetups, conferences and hackathons across LATAM.
• Mentor junior developers through pair-programming and lightning talks, fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous learning.
• Work directly with client stakeholders to translate business KPIs into technical requirements, ensuring every line of code drives measurable ROI.
• Leverage observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and Grafana to detect anomalies, reduce MTTR and keep SLAs green.
• Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating emerging tech—think Deno, Bun, WebAssembly—and running controlled experiments that inform our technical roadmap.
• Enjoy the freedom of remote-first work while tapping into a vibrant Slack community, quarterly off-sites in Brazil and Europe, and a generous hardware stipend so your home office is second to none.
🎯 Requirements
• 4+ years of professional experience building scalable applications with Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
• Proven expertise in at least one major front-end framework (React, Vue or Angular) and familiarity with Next.js or Remix
• Hands-on experience designing RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including auth patterns (JWT, OAuth2) and rate-limiting strategies
• Comfortable working in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP or Azure) using Docker, Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or Pulumi)
• Nice-to-have: contributions to open-source projects, fluency in Portuguese or Spanish, and prior consulting or client-facing experience
🏖️ Benefits
• Fully-remote, flexible contract with competitive USD-based daily rates and fast, reliable payments via Deel
• Annual hardware & co-working allowance up to USD 2,000 plus sponsored attendance at global conferences
• 20 days paid time off plus local public holidays, with the option to swap days to fit your personal calendar
• Access to Nearform’s internal R&D budget, mentorship program and career-growth tracks leading to staff-level roles
