đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Emerging Tech as a Joint Cybersecurity Analyst and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the nation's most critical health IT infrastructure. You will be instrumental in supporting the Federal Electronic Health Records Modernization (FEHRM) office, a joint initiative between the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful deployment and ongoing security of a single, shared Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, impacting the health and readiness of millions of service members, veterans, and their families.
  • • This is a broad-based cybersecurity and consulting role that demands a deep understanding of modern cybersecurity concepts, exceptional cross-agency coordination skills, and proven experience in securing large-scale, mission-critical health IT environments. You will be at the forefront of enhancing cybersecurity posture, ensuring compliance with stringent federal regulations, and driving joint risk management efforts for this transformative program.
  • • A core aspect of your role will involve coordinating across diverse cybersecurity operational processes and stakeholder groups, both within and between the DoD and VA. This collaboration is essential for the maturation of cybersecurity capabilities within the joint EHR environment, ensuring a unified and robust defense against evolving cyber threats.
  • • You will be tasked with applying modern cybersecurity approaches, with a strong emphasis on Zero Trust principles, to significantly improve the overall cyber posture of the EHR system. This includes understanding and implementing strategies that assume no implicit trust and continuously verify every stage of digital interaction.
  • • Hands-on experience with a variety of cybersecurity tools is crucial. You will leverage your expertise with network topologies, intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and secured network environments to identify vulnerabilities, implement protective measures, and respond to security incidents.
  • • Designing and implementing systems that strictly comply with federal cybersecurity policies, standards, and regulatory requirements will be a key responsibility. This includes a thorough understanding of frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, HIPAA, and other relevant mandates governing federal health IT.
  • • You will be responsible for developing and delivering clear, concise, and impactful briefings, reports, dashboards, and cybersecurity metrics. These outputs will be critical for leadership and management review, providing essential insights into the security status and operational effectiveness of the joint EHR system.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve leading and monitoring the migration of sensitive EHR data to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environment. Your focus will be on managing and mitigating joint cyber risks throughout this complex migration process, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • • You will proactively plan for and conduct cybersecurity tabletop exercises. These exercises are vital for assessing the readiness and response capabilities of the joint cybersecurity teams, identifying gaps, and refining incident response plans.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a high-visibility, mission-critical project that directly supports the health and well-being of our nation's heroes. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to modernizing federal health IT and ensuring the secure delivery of essential healthcare services.
  • • Your contributions will be recognized as vital to the success of the FEHRM office's mission. You will have the chance to shape the cybersecurity strategy for a system that will serve as the backbone of healthcare delivery for both the DoD and VA, setting a new standard for interagency collaboration and technological advancement in federal health IT.
  • • This role requires a strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to cybersecurity, capable of navigating complex organizational structures and technical challenges. You will be a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on all aspects of cybersecurity risk management and operational security for the joint EHR system.
  • • The opportunity to grow professionally is immense, with continuous learning in EHRM workflows, cutting-edge cybersecurity practices, and solution advisory services within a dynamic federal environment. Your career trajectory will be significantly enhanced by this experience.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in cybersecurity.
  • • Strong understanding of modern cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, Zero Trust Architecture), tools, and secure system design principles within complex enterprise environments.
  • • Demonstrated experience supporting cybersecurity efforts in large, multi-stakeholder or multi-agency environments, particularly within the federal sector.
  • • Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools, network topologies, intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and secured network environments.
  • • Proven ability to design and implement systems compliant with federal cybersecurity policies, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FISMA, HIPAA).
  • • Experience in developing and delivering comprehensive cybersecurity reports, briefings, and metrics for leadership review.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary range of $125,000 - $135,000 per year.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • • Generous paid time off (PTO) and observance of federal holidays.
  • • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • • Remote-first flexibility, allowing for a strong work-life balance.
  • • Opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth within a mission-driven organization.
