- • Serve as Communications Manager for the Beacon Center, Tennessee’s leading free-market public policy organization, responsible for amplifying the message of free enterprise, individual liberty, and limited government.
- • Develop and execute strategic communications campaigns to promote policy victories including tax repeal, right-to-work constitutional amendment, education savings accounts, healthcare reforms, and occupational licensing deregulation.
- • Write and edit high-impact content including press releases, op-eds, social media posts, website copy, donor communications, and multimedia scripts tailored to diverse audiences.
- • Manage media relations by building and maintaining relationships with local, state, and national journalists, securing coverage in key outlets, and serving as a spokesperson when needed.
- • Coordinate public events, policy launches, and media appearances to maximize visibility and public engagement for Beacon’s initiatives.
- • Lead internal communications to ensure alignment across the 11-person team and support organizational culture through consistent messaging and storytelling.
- • Collaborate with policy teams to translate complex legislative and economic concepts into clear, compelling narratives for the public and policymakers.
- • Monitor media trends, public sentiment, and competitor communications to adapt strategy and maintain a competitive edge in policy advocacy.
- • Manage digital platforms including website, email newsletters, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube to grow audience reach and engagement.
- • Track and report on communications metrics such as media impressions, social media growth, website traffic, and campaign conversion rates to demonstrate impact.
- • Travel periodically to Nashville, Tennessee, for team meetings, events, and in-person collaboration, even if based remotely across the United States.
- • Operate with entrepreneurial initiative, taking ownership of projects from concept to execution with minimal supervision and a results-driven mindset.
- • Maintain ideological alignment with the principles of free markets, individual liberty, and limited government, ensuring all communications reflect Beacon’s mission and values.
- • Work in a hybrid environment if based in Nashville, with option to work from the office or remotely, while maintaining high standards of productivity and collaboration.
- • Contribute to a positive, mission-driven workplace culture recognized as one of Nashville’s “Best Places to Work.”
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in communications, public relations, or media relations within a policy, nonprofit, or advocacy organization
- • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a portfolio demonstrating ability to craft persuasive, clear, and impactful messaging
- • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple communications projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- • Strong understanding of digital media platforms and social media strategy for advocacy and public engagement
- • Willingness to travel periodically to Nashville, Tennessee, for team meetings and events
- • Ideological alignment with free markets, individual liberty, and limited government principles
