📋 Description

  • Serve as a Latvian-English Video-Phone Interpreter, facilitating real-time verbal interpretation between Latvian and English speakers across high-stakes industries including healthcare, 911, law enforcement, courts, government, insurance, finance, and education.
  • Render accurate, unbiased interpretations in both Latvian and English, preserving meaning, tone, and cultural nuances without adding, omitting, or altering content during live sessions.
  • Respond promptly to on-demand audio and video interpretation requests, ensuring timely and professional service delivery in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
  • Maintain strict neutrality and confidentiality during sensitive conversations, including those involving end-of-life care, pregnancy termination, sexual orientation, gender expression, and emergency medical or legal situations.
  • Use approved company technology platforms (laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone) to conduct interpreting sessions, entering required data accurately and efficiently during calls.
  • Participate in mandatory paid training programs, including online, video, and audio sessions, to develop industry-specific terminology and maintain compliance with ASTM and ISO interpretation standards.
  • Adhere to client-specific protocols and avoid direct interaction with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals without explicit client permission.
  • Work from a secure, quiet home office environment free from background noise, distractions, or interruptions during interpreting sessions.
  • Operate a headset for extended periods and remain stationary at a computer with webcam access for the majority of the workday.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency by recognizing regional dialects, accents, and cultural contexts to enhance communication clarity with LEP callers.
  • Remain calm and composed during emotionally intense or prolonged calls, including those with incoherent or distressed speakers, without requesting breaks unless medically necessary.
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability during scheduled work hours, meeting attendance targets to qualify for performance incentives.
  • Follow all technical requirements including use of approved devices (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, or Android), avoiding restricted hardware like Huawei or Kaspersky products.
  • Ensure minimum internet performance standards: 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, ≤300 ms ping, ≤30 ms jitter.
  • Possess the manual dexterity to type and operate computer systems, and be able to lift up to 26 lbs when handling equipment.
  • Apply professional ethics and terminology appropriate to medical, legal, financial, and emergency response contexts without engaging in written translation.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by working respectfully with individuals from all cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Adapt to evolving technology enhancements and company system updates designed to improve service delivery and client satisfaction.

🎯 Requirements

  • Fluent in both Latvian and English, with demonstrated proficiency in spoken interpretation and cultural dynamics
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to read and write Latvian and English (highly preferred)
  • Access to a dedicated personal device (laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone) and high-speed internet meeting minimum technical specifications
