  • • Design and engineer structural modifications for CONEX/shipping containers for defense, commercial, industrial, and specialty applications
  • • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using industry-standard CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or Fusion 360
  • • Develop construction and fabrication plans suitable for manufacturing and field installation of modular medical systems
  • • Perform structural analysis and simulation testing to validate design integrity, load capacity, and compliance with engineering codes and standards
  • • Collaborate with fabrication teams, project managers, and clients to ensure designs meet project requirements, production capabilities, and operational needs in austere environments
  • • Review and optimize designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and structural performance across mobile and modular systems
  • • Produce comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical documentation, and engineering change orders for production and certification
  • • Ensure all designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety regulations, and local building codes including ISO/CSC, ABS, DNV, ASME/AWS, UFC, or military specifications
  • • Support prototype development, testing, and implementation of container modification projects from concept to field deployment
  • • Conduct site visits and fabrication shop reviews to verify measurements, construction accuracy, and adherence to engineering specifications
  • • Lead engineering quality standards across the team by setting best practices for documentation, testing, and production readiness
  • • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining focus on timely delivery, technical accuracy, and operational reliability
  • • Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate user needs into functional, transportable medical systems for rapid response and remote monitoring
  • • Translate field feedback into iterative design improvements for mobile medical systems used in defense and government operations
  • • Maintain awareness of emerging materials, welding techniques, and corrosion/coating considerations for mixed-material interfaces in harsh environments
  • • Participate in the transition of prototypes to scalable production systems with attention to scalability, maintainability, and field serviceability

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar platforms
  • • Prior experience designing modifications to shipping containers, steel structures, modular buildings, or fabricated assemblies strongly preferred
  • • Background in heavy equipment, trailers, modular buildings, defense, marine, oilfield, or industrial equipment preferred
  • • Strong understanding of welding, fabrication processes, and structural steel design — hands-on shop experience a plus
  • • Experience creating production-ready fabrication drawings, shop packages, and supporting documentation for certification
