- • Lead the pre-certification team to ensure medical, drug, and diagnostic testing authorizations are obtained efficiently and reimbursement is maximized through interaction with third-party payers.
- • Manage daily workload, prioritize assignments, answer pre-certification phone lines, assist with billing and insurance inquiries, and act as a liaison between department facilities and physician offices.
- • Part of the Department of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, a leading academic medical center committed to excellence in patient care, research, and education.
- • Develop leadership and expertise in healthcare authorization processes, staff training, denial management, and process improvement while contributing to operational efficiency and financial integrity.
🎯 Requirements
- • High school diploma or equivalent
- • 3 years of medical billing/coding experience
- • Previous pre-certification experience
- • Thorough understanding of Washington University FSC database and insurance terminology
- • Experience interacting with managed care plans, insurance companies, and third-party payers
- • Ability to work with internal and external customers including physicians, nurses, patients, and families
