- • As the Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead for Growth at Maximus Tribe, you will own the technical strategy and execution for the company's customer acquisition engine, directly impacting revenue growth by optimizing the signup-to-checkout conversion funnel across all health and wellness protocols. This role is critical to Maximus’s mission of scaling profitably through conversion-driven growth rather than relying on ad spend, positioning you at the forefront of a high-impact, data-informed engineering team that shapes the company’s top-line performance.
- • You will split your time 50/50 between hands-on coding and technical leadership, managing a small team of engineers while shipping full-stack features in Ruby on Rails and React, designing and measuring A/B experiments using Amplitude, iterating on pricing and payment architectures (including Stripe and Klarna), and building resilient experimentation infrastructure that supports rapid, reliable deployment multiple times per day.
- • You will partner closely with a Senior Product Manager and Senior Designer to align on experiment priorities, coach your team through regular 1:1s, pair programming, and code reviews, and drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and Devin to enhance team velocity and code quality without compromising rigor.

- • In this role, you will achieve deep ownership of the growth engineering function, with clear milestones including leading the BNPL migration to Klarna in the first 90 days and launching cohort-level retention tracking and activation surveys in the first two quarters. You will grow as a technical leader who balances experimentation velocity with retention guardrails, gaining influence over product strategy, team development, and AI-augmented engineering practices in a high-trust, remote-first environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading a team of 4-8 engineers as a technical leader, with direct responsibility for hiring, coaching, performance management, and retaining talent through meaningful career development and regular 1:1s.
- • Demonstrated success in designing, shipping, and measuring growth experiments in a subscription-based product, specifically optimizing signup funnels, checkout flows, pricing, and plan architecture using analytics platforms like Amplitude to track conversion and retention trade-offs.
- • Strong proficiency in full-stack development with Ruby on Rails 7 and React 18/TypeScript, including the ability to write production code daily, work within an event-sourced architecture, and integrate payment systems such as Stripe and Klarna while maintaining system reliability and observability.
