- • As the Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead for Growth at Maximus Tribe, you will own the technical strategy and execution for the company’s customer acquisition engine, directly impacting revenue growth by optimizing the signup-to-checkout conversion funnel across all health and wellness protocols. This role is critical to Maximus’s mission of scaling profitably through product-led growth rather than relying on ad spend, making your work a direct driver of the company’s 8-figure ARR and year-over-year doubling trajectory.
- • You will split your time 50/50 between hands-on engineering and team leadership, managing a small team of engineers while shipping full-stack features in Ruby on Rails and React, designing and analyzing A/B experiments using Amplitude, and ensuring that conversion improvements do not compromise user quality through M1 retention guardrails. Your work will include migrating to Klarna BNPL, building cohort-level retention tracking, and experimenting with pricing, plan architecture, and product recommendations to maximize long-term value.
- • You will collaborate closely with a Senior Product Manager and Senior Designer, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, and operate within a data-driven, experiment-centric culture where every feature is measured for impact on both conversion and retention. The team uses two-week sprints, deploys multiple times per day, and leverages AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and Devin to accelerate velocity.
- • Maximus is a profitable, VC-backed telehealth company with a mission to optimize men’s and women’s health through content, community, and clinical support, offering biomarker testing via Maximus Labs as an acquisition channel. The company competes with Hims, Hone, Keeps, and Fella by prioritizing product excellence over marketing spend, and your leadership will be instrumental in building the scalable acquisition engine needed to achieve 2x customer growth this year.
- • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in growth engineering, experimentation infrastructure, event-sourced architectures, and AI-augmented development practices, while growing and retaining a high-performing team. You will have the authority and accountability to shape the technical direction of Maximus’s growth initiatives, with clear milestones including BNML migration in the first 90 days and launching activation surveys and cohort tracking within the first two quarters.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading a team of 4-8 engineers with direct reports, including coaching, performance development, and retention of team members.
- • Demonstrated success in shipping and measuring growth experiments in a subscription-based product, specifically optimizing signup funnels, checkout flows, pricing, and plan architecture using analytics tools like Amplitude.
- • Strong proficiency in writing production Ruby on Rails and React/TypeScript code, with the expectation to continue hands-on coding as part of the role.
