- • The Legal Intern role at Cambium Learning Group, Inc. offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, in-house legal environment supporting a leading education technology company. This summer internship is designed for ACC Scholar program participants seeking to apply academic knowledge to real-world legal challenges across multiple business units, contributing directly to the company’s mission while developing professional legal skills under the guidance of experienced attorneys.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting attorneys with corporate governance and subsidiary management tasks such as maintaining entity records and supporting board materials; conducting research and drafting memoranda on compliance and risk management issues, including regulatory adherence and internal policy development; supporting employment law matters like reviewing offer letters, assisting with HR-related inquiries, and tracking legislative changes; contributing to business development initiatives by reviewing partnership agreements, international sales channel contracts, and vendor procurement documents; supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives through legal research and documentation of compliance efforts; assisting with intellectual property management including trademark monitoring, copyright notices, and brand enforcement activities; supporting litigation readiness by organizing documents, conducting factual research, and assisting with e-discovery preparations; aiding in public contracting processes such as reviewing government bids and education sector contracts; addressing data privacy and security concerns under laws like FERPA, COPPA, and GDPR as they apply to educational technology; exploring legal implications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in edtech products; and assisting with marketing and advertising compliance, including review of promotional materials and endorsement guidelines.

The team emphasizes practical problem-solving, proactive risk mitigation, and ethical leadership in serving both internal clients and external stakeholders. As a Remote First organization, Cambium fosters inclusivity and flexibility, enabling interns to engage meaningfully from any location within the U.S. while maintaining strong connections through structured virtual collaboration.
- • Through this internship, the participant will develop practical legal research and writing skills, gain exposure to the full lifecycle of corporate legal work in a fast-growing industry, and build confidence in navigating complex regulatory environments affecting education technology. The intern will learn how legal strategy aligns with business objectives, particularly in areas like innovation, compliance, and global expansion, and will receive mentorship from attorneys specializing in diverse practice areas. By the end of the summer, the intern will have produced tangible work products, improved their ability to communicate legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers, and gained a clearer understanding of whether an in-house legal career aligns with their professional goals.
