- • Join Kraken, a global leader in the cryptocurrency exchange space, and play a crucial role in shaping the future of finance as a Manager, Accounting. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your accounting expertise within a dynamic, mission-driven organization that is at the forefront of innovation in the crypto and blockchain technology sector.
- • As a Manager, Accounting, you will be an integral part of our agile, globally distributed Accounting team. You will be responsible for overseeing and executing critical accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records for various business units.
- • Your primary responsibility will involve the meticulous review and approval of business unit transactions before their official recording in the general ledger. This oversight is paramount to maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- • You will also take ownership of general ledger (G L) accounts, including the reconciliation of these accounts and the thorough review of G L reconciliations prepared by other team members. This deep dive into account activity will ensure financial accuracy and identify any discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- • A key aspect of this role is taking ownership of specific business unit general ledgers. This involves developing a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory requirements pertinent to each jurisdiction in which the business unit operates. You will serve as a primary point of contact for statutory audits, providing necessary documentation and insights to external auditors.
- • You will be instrumental in ensuring that all business unit transactions are recorded with the utmost accuracy, completeness, and within established timelines. This proactive approach to financial record-keeping is essential for reliable financial statements and strategic decision-making.
- • The role requires the preparation of accurate and insightful financial statements for your assigned business units. This involves synthesizing complex financial data into clear, concise reports that inform stakeholders and support business objectives.
- • Effective interaction with multiple business units across the organization is vital. You will collaborate closely with departments such as Payroll, Accounts Payable, Platform Operations, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, and Compliance to ensure seamless financial operations and integrated financial strategies.
- • You will actively contribute to the implementation and enhancement of internal controls and accounting processes and procedures. This includes the critical documentation of process narratives and process flowcharts, which are essential for operational efficiency and audit readiness.
- • A significant part of your role will involve assisting with the adoption of new U.S. GAAP accounting standards. This entails coordinating with accounting process owners, developing robust implementation plans, and executing necessary changes in processes, systems, and financial reporting disclosures.
- • You will engage directly with both internal and external auditors, facilitating audit processes and ensuring that all audit requirements are met efficiently and effectively.
- • The role also encompasses performing intercompany accounting, which includes the reconciliation of intercompany balances. You will be responsible for identifying and resolving any gaps or discrepancies between assigned entities and their respective global counterparties, ensuring financial alignment across the organization.
- • You will collaborate with the Treasury department and other relevant teams to ensure the proper accounting treatment of complex financial transactions, applying sound accounting principles and judgment.
- • In addition to these core responsibilities, you will be expected to perform ad-hoc tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting the broader accounting function and company objectives.
- • This position offers a unique opportunity to grow your career in the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrency, working with a passionate and talented team dedicated to innovation and financial inclusion. You will be part of a company that values its employees, fosters a culture of learning, and provides the tools and support necessary for professional development.
- • As a fully remote company, Kraken offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, empowering you to achieve a healthy work-life balance while contributing to our global mission. Become a Krakenite and help us build the future of crypto!
