Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Manager, Mechatronics Engineering at Dandy Technology, Inc., you will serve as the technical cornerstone of the Precision Robotics R&D team, defining the mechatronic architecture for next-generation Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) that manufacture custom dental prosthetics. This role is critical to Dandy’s mission of modernizing the $200B dental industry by building the operating system for dental offices worldwide, where your work directly enables clinicians to deliver higher-quality, faster, and more personalized care through advanced automation.
- • You will lead the end-to-end development of high-precision robotic systems, from concept and rapid prototyping to production-ready execution, ensuring micron-level reliability in additive and subtractive manufacturing processes. Your day-to-day responsibilities include architecting integrated hardware systems involving actuators, sensors, and motion control; conducting structural and thermal analyses; implementing real-time feedback loops and communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, CANopen); co-developing designs with third-party vendors; and acting as the primary technical interface between mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration and optimization.
- • You will join an elite, innovation-driven Precision Robotics R&D team at Dandy, a venture-backed company transforming dental manufacturing through cutting-edge automation. The team operates with a founding mindset in a high-velocity, high-growth environment, where cross-functional collaboration and technical excellence are paramount to delivering turnkey automated solutions that meet rigorous performance and safety standards.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in high-precision mechatronic systems, gain end-to-end ownership of complex automation projects from blank-sheet concept to factory-floor execution, and develop leadership skills by mentoring junior engineers and managing multiple concurrent projects. You will also advance your proficiency in advanced motion control, sensor fusion, FEA/CFD analysis, and robotic safety standards (ISO 10218/ISO 13482), positioning yourself as a leader in industrial automation for medical manufacturing.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of machine-building experience in hardware, mechatronics, or robotics engineering with a focus on system-level architecture for production systems
- • B.S./M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics Engineering
- • Expert-level proficiency with Solidworks or similar CAD platforms, profound knowledge of robotic kinematics/dynamics, motor controllers, and hands-on experience with sensor integration, embedded systems, and industrial design execution
🏖️ Benefits
- • Comprehensive healthcare, dental, and mental health support
- • Retirement savings options and generous paid time off
- • Parental planning resources and inclusive benefits tailored to global operations
- • "selected_category": "Mechanical Engineer",
- • "parent_category": "Other Engineering",
- • "confidence": 0.95,
- • "reasoning": "The role is titled 'Manager, Mechatronics Engineering' and centers on designing and integrating mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems for precision manufacturing equipment. While mechatronics overlaps with electrical and software engineering, the core focus—system architecture, actuator/sensor integration, CAD design, FEA/CFD, and mechanical prototyping—aligns most closely with mechanical engineering principles. The job emphasizes physical machine design, manufacturing processes (additive/subtractive), and hardware validation, which are hallmarks of mechanical engineering in an automation context. Although the role involves control systems and firmware collaboration, the primary accountability lies in mechanical system integration, making 'Mechanical Engineer' the most specific appropriate child category under 'Other Engineering'."
