📋 Description
- • The Managing Consultant – Clinical Performance Improvement (Emergency Department) leads complex performance improvement projects within the Integrated Health Solutions practice at BRG, focusing on enhancing clinical quality, operational efficiency, and patient care in emergency departments through evidence-based practices and strategic recommendations.
- • Day to day, the role involves serving as an engagement director or subject matter expert, leading project teams, developing project plans and client deliverables, independently meeting with clients and executives, creating client-facing materials such as slide decks, mentoring junior staff, monitoring implemented workstreams, and contributing to business development and thought leadership initiatives.
- • BRG’s Integrated Health Solutions practice provides end-to-end advisory support to healthcare providers, payers, investors, and stakeholders, helping them navigate strategic, operational, financial, and clinical challenges through services like Business Transformation Advisory, Margin & Operational Improvement, Quality Improvement & Clinical Care, and AI & Digital Solutions, with a focus on building resilient, future-ready healthcare enterprises.
- • The person in this role can develop deep expertise in emergency department performance improvement, lead high-impact initiatives that reduce left-without-being-seen rates and length of stay, advance their leadership and project management capabilities, contribute to firm-wide thought leadership through publications and presentations, and grow professionally through mentorship and continuing education support.
🎯 Requirements
- • Either 6+ years of experience in clinical performance improvement consulting or 10+ years of industry experience in a relevant role with relevant licensure/certification, including at least five years in a director-level leadership role (e.g., Registered Nurse, Social Worker, or health system performance improvement department experience with Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or PMP certification).
- • Bachelor’s Degree required in a health or related field from an accredited institution; Master’s Degree preferred, with candidates without one required to enroll and complete it within three years of hire.
- • Advanced proficiency in data analytics and benchmarking tools, with proven ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop process improvement solutions.
- • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience, including the ability to lead, manage, develop, mentor, and coach junior staff supporting projects.
- • Expanded operational knowledge of emergency departments, including EMTALA, industry-standard data definitions, staffing skill-mix and demand methodologies, ESI triage standards, care for behavioral health patients, throughput processes, and a track record of reducing left-without-being-seen rates, ED length of stay, and maintaining or improving department productivity.
- • Willingness to travel consistently (80%) depending on project requirements and client expectations.
