đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Market Owner for Northern California, you will be the visionary leader and strategic driver for a cluster of at least four Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) hospitals within a defined geographical area. This role embodies a profound sense of ownership, encompassing all facets of operations, clinical excellence, team development, and financial performance across your designated market. You are the pivotal figure responsible for the growth, sustained success, and comprehensive support of every VEGgie within your hospitals, ensuring they are empowered to deliver unparalleled care and experience.
  • • You will directly oversee and mentor Hospital Leaders, including Medical Directors and Hospital Managers, guiding them in their respective functions and the day-to-day management of their locations. Your leadership ensures alignment with VEG's core mission and values, fostering an environment where innovation, compassion, and operational efficiency thrive. By embodying VEG's 'Say Yes' philosophy, you empower your teams to go above and beyond, tackling complex emergency cases and providing exceptional service to pet owners during their most stressful times.
  • • A primary focus of your role will be driving the financial health of your market. This involves owning and meticulously managing the Profit and Loss (P&L) statements for each hospital, rigorously evaluating financial performance, identifying and implementing strategies for revenue growth, and developing sound, sustainable budgets. Your financial acumen will be critical in ensuring the long-term viability and expansion of VEG's presence in Northern California.
  • • Building and nurturing strong relationships with referring veterinarians (rDVMs) and other community partners is paramount. You will be the face of VEG in your market, actively engaging with the veterinary community to elevate VEG's reputation, build trust, and expand our referral network. This involves ensuring rDVMs have unwavering confidence that their clients and patients are receiving the highest standard of emergency care at VEG hospitals.
  • • You will champion a culture of continuous learning and professional development for all VEGgies. This includes identifying individual and team growth opportunities, implementing targeted training initiatives, and ensuring ongoing upskilling in both clinical and operational areas. Your commitment to mentorship and development will foster career progression and retention within your market.
  • • Talent acquisition and retention are key responsibilities. You will lead efforts to hire and retain top-tier talent, building high-performing, motivated, and empowered teams. This involves leveraging local networking, implementing effective recruiting strategies, and developing robust succession plans to ensure a strong talent pipeline.
  • • Collaboration is essential. You will work closely with various cross-functional teams at VEG Headquarters, including HR, Legal, Technology, Marketing, and Operations, to bring necessary resources, implement improvements, and introduce innovations to your hospitals. This ensures your teams have the support and tools they need to excel.
  • • You will maintain a keen awareness of market trends and competitive landscapes within Northern California. This insight will inform strategies for local growth, the exploration of new service offerings, and the identification of potential future hospital locations, ensuring VEG remains at the forefront of emergency veterinary care.
  • • Representing and safeguarding the VEG brand within your region is a critical duty. This involves active community engagement, participating in local events, and finding meaningful ways to contribute to and give back to the communities VEG serves. Your actions will directly influence public perception and brand loyalty.
  • • Ultimately, you will cultivate an environment where every VEGgie feels seen, heard, and valued. This people-centric approach is fundamental to fostering a culture where employees are motivated to grow, make a significant impact, and contribute to VEG's overarching mission. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining VEG's status as a Great Place to Work®.
  • • You will be expected to be present and engaged within your market, spending approximately 75% of your time on-site at local hospitals or attending off-site meetings, with 25% flexibility for remote work. This hands-on approach is vital for understanding the nuances of each location and connecting with your teams. You must be willing to work in a dynamic, potentially noisy environment with strong odors, characteristic of an emergency veterinary setting, and possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment alongside diverse individuals.
