- • As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at argenx, you will serve as a vital field-based extension of our Medical Affairs team, embodying our commitment to transforming immunology and delivering life-changing medicines to patients suffering from severe autoimmune diseases.
- • You will be an expert on argenx's scientific data, products, and clinical trials, acting as a primary scientific and medical resource for Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) at academic and community centers across your designated territory.
- • Your role is crucial in representing and reflecting argenx's core values: a science-driven, patient-centric organization dedicated to developing innovative therapies.
- • You will uphold the highest ethical standards in all interactions, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies.
- • A key responsibility is to foster KOL development and advocacy, while also serving as a strategic field partner to cross-functional colleagues, including Sales, Marketing, and Clinical Development.
- • You will gain a deep understanding of the management of diseases of interest, meticulously map the patient journey, and identify critical unmet medical needs and data gaps within the therapeutic landscape.

- • The MSL is responsible for developing and continuously maintaining the highest level of scientific and medical expertise concerning relevant diseases, argenx products, and development plans.
- • You will be acknowledged internally and externally as a subject matter expert, capable of engaging in sophisticated scientific dialogue.
- • Building, cultivating, and leveraging strong relationships with key external scientific and medical thought leaders and organizations is paramount to understanding evolving healthcare trends.
- • You will contribute to the development and implementation of Strategic Territory Plans, aligning with and advancing Medical Affairs strategy to drive impactful outcomes.
- • Maintaining a high level of knowledge of and appropriately implementing current local pharmaceutical regulations is essential, alongside ensuring adherence to all argenx policies and procedures.
- • Engaging in scientific medical exchange and education is a core function, delivering high-quality, compliant scientific medical education in line with the medical strategy.
- • A critical aspect of your role is obtaining actionable insights on key topics of interest that can be disseminated throughout the organization to inform strategy and focus efforts.
- • You will implement Medical Affairs tactics to assess potential new indications, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the treating community, patient pathways, diagnostic practices, and current management approaches.
- • Timely and appropriate response to external Medical Information inquiries is required, providing accurate and compliant information.
- • You will respond to both on- and off-label questions from the healthcare community with integrity, ensuring adherence to all legal, regulatory, and argenx guidelines and policies.
- • Identifying potential high-impact medical research projects and publication opportunities that align with argenx's identified areas of interest will be a key contribution.
- • Attending relevant local, national, and international meetings and congresses is expected for gathering intelligence, developing collaborations, and personal education, with a mandate to share insights within argenx.
- • Ensuring all external interactions are conducted in accordance with argenx objectives, compliance policies, and established legal and ethical standards is non-negotiable.
- • Systematically capturing and disseminating all relevant knowledge, including activities and interactions with key contacts, within argenx is crucial for organizational learning.
- • In collaboration with argenx clinical development and operations teams, you will identify potential investigators and centers for clinical research participation.
- • You will support feasibility assessments and site initiation, developing and maintaining productive collaborations with research sites.
- • Conducting training with CROs, CRAs, and study site staff as required will be part of your responsibilities.
- • Developing and executing an optimal site contact plan is essential for supporting clinical research and KOL development and advocacy.
- • You will support the resolution of study issues at a site level and escalate any safety reports consistent with argenx policy.
- • Providing insightful feedback to internal and external stakeholders as appropriate is expected.
- • It is important to note that the MSL is not responsible for advising sites on detailed study-specific procedures or making decisions about clinical study operational issues; these should be referred to the relevant colleagues.
- • Maintaining a close working relationship with all argenx functions, including cross-functional field partners, is vital for seamless operations.
- • You will support cross-functional teams to ensure operations are patient-focused, rapidly responding to internal and external requests to discuss specific situations and challenges, and providing Medical Affairs support to all stakeholders.
- • This remote position will cover most of Ohio, excluding the Cincinnati area, requiring approximately 50% travel.
🎯 Requirements
- • Scientific, healthcare, or medical degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, NP, PA, RN, MS).
- • Minimum of 3 years of field-based experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, specifically as a Medical Science Liaison.
- • Demonstrated ability to build productive collaborations with medical experts and Key Opinion Leaders.
- • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities, with the capacity to explain complex scientific information clearly.
- • Proven ability to quickly understand complex disease areas, treatments, clinical development plans, and the broader healthcare landscape.
- • Experience in clinical R&D and/or Medical Affairs is preferred.
- • Clinical experience in neurology, hematology, immunology, and/or rare diseases is considered a significant advantage.
- • Knowledge of regulations and practices related to industry interactions with healthcare professionals.
- • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
