📋 Description

• The Middle/High School Academic Counselor at MiaPrep Online Academy of Ohio plays a vital role in supporting student success through academic planning, progress monitoring, and post-secondary guidance in a fully remote, growing online public school serving grades 7-11 with expansion plans to over 1,000 students by 2030.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with parents and students to create individualized academic plans, monitoring academic performance, interpreting student data to recommend interventions, supporting wellness and crisis response efforts, guiding students toward college, trade school, military, or career pathways, and assisting with accreditation efforts for Cognia and NCAA.
• The role is part of Miaplaza Inc., a mission-driven company dedicated to elevating online learning through accessible, inclusive homeschool curriculum platforms, where the counselor contributes to both student outcomes and institutional growth, including enrollment expansion and course catalog development.
• The counselor will develop expertise in K-12 academic advising, student data interpretation, crisis intervention protocols, accreditation processes, and post-secondary planning while gaining experience in a innovative, fully remote educational environment with opportunities to transition into other roles within the organization.

🎯 Requirements

• Master's degree or higher in a related field with certification in school counseling, or equivalent combination of training and experience
• 3+ years of experience in academic counseling at the middle or high school level
• Professional experience supporting secondary education students within the last 5 years
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Tech-savvy with ability to quickly learn platforms such as gradebooks, Google Classroom, curriculum platforms, and Google Workspace
• Proficiency in or willingness to learn responsible use of AI tools to increase efficiency in education

• Competitive hourly pay of $27.27–$30.00, with overtime paid at 1.5x rate for hours over 40 per week
