Our vision is to empower our nation's most critical missions by seamlessly integrating advanced technologies, brilliant minds, and unparalleled agility. We operate with speed, flexibility, and ingenuity to safeguard and strengthen vital national interests. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Operator to join our dynamic team at a premier US Army installation in Huntsville, AL.
  • • In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in managing, securing, and maintaining the complex and critical network infrastructure that underpins essential military operations. The ideal candidate will bring a deep well of technical expertise across a spectrum of advanced networking technologies, coupled with a thorough understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) security protocols and mandates. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the unwavering stability, integrity, and security of network services that directly support mission objectives.
  • • Your responsibilities will encompass the enforcement of rigorous security standards, including the meticulous application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and the strategic leveraging of automation to significantly enhance network efficiency, reliability, and resilience. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology within a high-stakes environment, making a tangible impact on national security.
  • • Key responsibilities include:
  • • **Network Administration:** You will be tasked with the comprehensive administration, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of Palo Alto firewalls. This includes ensuring robust security policies are in place and effectively managed for threat prevention. You will also manage and troubleshoot intricate campus networks built upon Cisco Catalyst 9300 stacked switches and 9400 series chassis, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance.
  • • **Network Access Control:** A critical aspect of your role will involve implementing and managing network access control (NAC) policies using Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), ensuring only authorized devices and users can access the network.
  • • **Wireless Infrastructure Management:** You will oversee the configuration, deployment, and day-to-day management of a large-scale wireless infrastructure, leveraging Cisco 9800 Wireless Controllers to provide secure and reliable Wi-Fi access.
  • • **Security & Compliance:** A paramount responsibility is ensuring all network devices are configured and maintained in strict adherence to DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Army cybersecurity directives. This involves conducting regular security audits, performing vulnerability assessments, and executing remediation activities in response to ACAS and CTO initiatives. You will also be responsible for responding to and investigating cybersecurity incidents, working closely with the security operations team.
  • • **Network Automation:** To drive efficiency, you will develop and maintain scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible to automate routine network administration tasks, device configuration, and compliance checks. Experience with Linux Bash scripting is also highly valued. You will actively contribute to the development of a network automation framework aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing manual effort.
  • • **Operations & Support:** You will continuously monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex connectivity and performance issues, and ensure the high availability of all network services. Maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation of network architecture, device configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) is essential. Furthermore, you will provide senior-level technical support and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • • This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a demanding, security-conscious environment. You will be a key player in maintaining the operational readiness and security posture of critical defense networks.
