- • Business Wire, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is the global market leader in press release distribution and regulatory disclosure, and the Newsroom Editor (Overnight) plays a critical role in ensuring that market-moving news and multimedia content are accurately prepared and transmitted to global audiences via Business Wire’s secure circuits, directly supporting the company’s mission to connect organizations with their stakeholders.
- • This overnight shift role (Sunday–Thursday, 9:30 PM PST to 6:00 AM PST) is essential for maintaining 24/7 operational continuity, enabling timely dissemination of news that impacts financial markets, regulatory compliance, and public relations outcomes for clients ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to emerging enterprises.
- • The Newsroom Editor will accurately receive, edit, format, and transmit press releases and regulatory filings in real time, adhering to strict style guides, legal requirements, and technical specifications to ensure zero errors in distribution across wire services, financial terminals, and media outlets.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring incoming news feeds from clients and PR agencies, verifying content for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and compliance with SEC, FDIC, and other regulatory standards, applying Business Wire’s proprietary formatting protocols, and initiating transmission via satellite, fiber-optic, and internet-based distribution networks.
- • The role requires close collaboration with senior editors, technical operations staff, and customer service teams to troubleshoot transmission issues, resolve client inquiries during off-hours, and escalate urgent matters such as breaking news or system anomalies to ensure uninterrupted service.
- • Newsroom Editors also perform routine system checks, maintain logs of all transmissions, assist in training new team members on editorial and technical workflows, and contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing speed, reliability, and client satisfaction.
- • As part of a dedicated, high-trust overnight team, the Editor operates with significant autonomy while upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity, confidentiality, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- • The Newsroom team at Business Wire is composed of detail-oriented professionals who value precision, discretion, and reliability — many with backgrounds in journalism, communications, or financial reporting — working together to uphold the company’s reputation as the most trusted source for global news distribution.
- • This role offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in financial and regulatory communications, gain hands-on experience with real-time news distribution technology, and understand the inner workings of how public information shapes market behavior and investor decisions.
- • Over time, the Newsroom Editor can advance into senior editorial roles, technical coordination positions, or cross-functional opportunities within Business Wire’s broader operations, compliance, or client service divisions, supported by the stability and resources of a Berkshire Hathaway-owned enterprise.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure during overnight shifts, with strong attention to detail and zero tolerance for errors in editing, formatting, or transmitting time-sensitive news content.
- • Excellent command of English grammar, punctuation, and style, with experience editing press releases, financial disclosures, or regulatory filings preferred.
- • Familiarity with news wire operations, content management systems, or digital publishing platforms is a plus; technical aptitude to learn proprietary transmission tools quickly is essential.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive hourly wage with shift differential pay for overnight work (Sunday–Thursday, 9:30 PM PST to 6:00 AM PST).
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans offered through Berkshire Hathaway’s parent company benefits structure.
- • Paid time off, holidays, and retirement savings options (including 401(k) with company match) aligned with Business Wire’s employee wellness and long-term financial security initiatives.
