- • Provides patient care under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, following an established plan of care that considers the patient’s chronological and developmental age.
- • Implements individualized treatment programs as directed by the Occupational Therapist and physician, adhering to scope of certification and departmental protocols.
- • Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through clear written and verbal communication with patients, families, therapists, Clinical Team Leaders, managers, and other healthcare team members.
- • Accurately documents patient progress and completes all required patient care forms in compliance with regulatory agencies and Carilion Clinic policies.
- • Supervises and collaborates with support staff, volunteers, and students to ensure efficient clinical operations and high-quality patient outcomes.
- • Participates in departmental and professional activities including in-services, performance improvement initiatives, program development, new employee orientation, committee membership, peer review, and staff meetings.
- • Works primarily in clinical settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient facilities, and patient homes; may be required to travel to other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.
- • For Home Care assignments, performs evaluations and treatments directly in patients’ homes, requiring daily travel between locations using personal transportation.
- • Engages in specialized programs such as driving assessments, hydrotherapy, and home environment evaluations as needed.
- • Maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations governing the practice of occupational therapy and adheres to AOTA standards.
- • Adapts treatment approaches based on patient progress and evolving goals, ensuring continuity of care across settings.
- • Functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to holistic patient care planning and execution.
- • Reports to and collaborates with Occupational Therapists to ensure treatment plans are accurately executed and modified as necessary.
- • Utilizes company-provided equipment for patient care and follows all safety and infection control protocols in every setting.
- • Maintains active licensure and certification requirements as mandated by the Commonwealth of Virginia and Carilion Clinic policies.
