- • At Baba, we are on a mission to revolutionize healthcare for older adults, a demographic facing increasingly complex and often overwhelming health journeys. As the U.S. population ages, the need for accessible, coordinated, and high-quality care for seniors becomes paramount. Baba addresses this critical challenge by connecting older adults with dedicated, expert advocates – typically nurses or social workers – who act as their personal navigators through the intricate healthcare system. These advocates are instrumental in managing a wide array of needs, from writing complex insurance appeals and researching specialist physicians to securing necessary medical equipment and identifying more affordable medication options, all while ensuring appointments are scheduled efficiently. Our innovative approach is backed by leading investors and a team comprised of seasoned entrepreneurs and technologists from prestigious institutions and companies, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- • As an Operations Engineer at Baba, you will play a pivotal role in scaling the very infrastructure that underpins our clinical network. This is a unique opportunity to engineer AI-driven systems designed to optimize the daily workflows of our diverse marketplace, which includes advocates, therapists, and other healthcare providers. You will be responsible for establishing the benchmarks and implementing automated quality assurance (QA) loops essential for onboarding millions of patients without compromising the exceptional quality of service that defines Baba. This role sits at the critical intersection of product development, operational strategy, and robust system design, reporting directly to the founder.
- • Your primary responsibilities will involve designing and implementing the technical and operational infrastructure required to manage a large-scale network of healthcare providers and advocates. This includes building sophisticated, data-driven frameworks to meticulously audit patient outcomes and evaluate the performance of our expert advocates, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to the highest standards of care.
- • A key focus of your work will be to transition our quality assurance processes from manual oversight to a fully automated, scalable monitoring system. This shift is crucial for maintaining quality as we grow and will involve deconstructing complex clinical processes into lean, repeatable, and efficient workflows. By optimizing these human-in-the-loop systems, you will significantly enhance the effectiveness and scalability of our operations.
- • You will be instrumental in translating identified operational bottlenecks directly into actionable product requirements, collaborating closely with our Engineering team to develop and deploy tools that systematically eliminate manual friction points. This requires a deep understanding of both the operational challenges and the technical solutions needed to overcome them.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves navigating the inherent trade-offs between maintaining rigorous clinical standards, adhering to strict medical regulations, and ensuring the speed and efficiency of our systems. Your ability to balance these competing priorities will be vital to our success.
- • We are seeking individuals who possess a high degree of agency and meticulous attention to detail, embodying a 'zero-defect' mindset. You should be adept at building systems that prevent any detail from being overlooked and demonstrate a commitment to taking full ownership of system reliability and performance.
- • A strong systems-thinking capability is essential. You must be able to visualize and map complex, multi-user journeys, and then simplify them into structured data and logical, manageable flows. This analytical approach will be key to designing efficient and scalable operational systems.
- • We value pragmatism and a bias for action. The ideal candidate prioritizes getting things done ('done' over 'perfect') while ensuring correctness ('correct' over 'easy'). You should thrive in high-pressure, ambiguous environments where quick, effective solutions are required.
- • Excellent analytical and communication skills are a must. You should be comfortable defending your design logic with data and strong product intuition, arguing from first principles to articulate your reasoning effectively.
- • A willingness to 'sweep the corners' is highly valued. This means you are equally comfortable tackling a critical customer support ticket for a patient as you are leading a high-level strategic review. No task should be considered beneath you, reflecting a deep commitment to the overall success of Baba.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven company that is fundamentally changing how older adults experience healthcare. You will be at the forefront of innovation, leveraging technology and human expertise to create a more seamless and supportive health journey for a vital population segment.
