Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As an Ops Builder for the Canadian Market at Alan SAS, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and scaling Alan’s vertically integrated health insurance and healthcare delivery platform in Canada, leveraging the company’s proven model from France, Spain, and Belgium to build a member-centric system that transforms health benefits from a cost center into a strategic asset for employers.
  • • You will own end-to-end operational execution for launching Alan’s services in Canada, starting with claim management and progressing to billing, affiliation, and health service delivery, ensuring seamless integration with Alan’s global infrastructure while adapting to local regulatory and market specifics under the guidance of OSFI licensing.
  • • Your day-to-day will involve building and industrializing core operations — including automating insurance processes like reimbursement parsing and recovery, setting up foundational infrastructure for new health product delivery, and designing monitoring systems to drive granular process visibility, risk identification, and continuous improvement.
  • • You will lead strategic initiatives that bridge operations with product and engineering teams, translating operational insights into company roadmap contributions, navigating cross-functional dependencies to execute complex projects, and coaching junior team members to foster growth and operational excellence.
  • • You will scale daily operations for member affiliation, partnership management, and competitor contract transitions, while establishing local partnerships with technical and service providers to support sustainable market entry and long-term viability.
  • • You will contribute to financial efficiency by optimizing operational models, reducing waste, and enhancing service quality through data-informed decision-making and process automation, directly supporting Alan’s mission to make prevention the norm of care.
  • • You will join a distributed, high-ownership team of 30+ Operations experts across France, Belgium, and Canada, working within Alan’s culture of radical transparency, asynchronous communication, and mission-first thinking, where your impact is measured by outcomes, not hours.
  • • In your first 12 months, you will help transform Alan’s Canadian operations from a nascent license holder into a scalable, efficient, and member-focused operation — gaining deep expertise in health insurance operations, regulatory navigation, and scalable process design in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.

🎯 Requirements

  • • At least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced scale-up environment, demonstrating ability to thrive amid ambiguity and drive results with ownership.
  • • Strong written and oral communication skills in English; French proficiency is highly valued for collaboration with global teams and local stakeholder engagement.
  • • Proven ability to define a vision and break it down into actionable, multi-dimensional roadmaps spanning business, customer experience, regulatory, and operational domains.
  • • Hands-on expertise in building, optimizing, and industrializing processes to ensure service quality, performance, and scalability, including automation of insurance workflows (e.g., claims parsing, recovery).
  • • Experience in healthcare, digital health, or insurance is a strong plus, particularly with a passion for improving healthcare delivery and user-centric product development.
  • • SQL knowledge enabling autonomous data exploration and analysis to support operational decision-making and process improvement.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fair rewards with generous equity packages that align your success with Alan’s long-term mission and growth.
  • • Hybrid office model with access to an exceptional workspace at Alan’s Canada HQ, requiring 3–5 days of in-person collaboration per week.
  • • Comprehensive health insurance coverage — 100% of premiums paid by Alan for you and your family — reflecting our commitment to employee well-being.
  • • Monthly TTC pass fully reimbursed, supporting seamless commuting and work-life balance in Toronto.
  • • Employer-matched GRRSP program to help you build long-term financial security.
  • • Flexible vacation policy and working hours, empowering you to organize your time in a way that supports both productivity and personal life.
  • • Learning and training opportunities including a free book budget, conference attendance, and speaking opportunities to support continuous professional growth.
  • • Extended parental leave for all new parents, underscoring Alan’s dedication to family and inclusive workplace policies.
