Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As the first point of contact for Turbopuffer’s future customers, you will play a critical role in shaping the company’s growth trajectory by initiating meaningful conversations with technical teams who are actively building with vector search or encountering limitations in their current infrastructure. Your outreach will directly influence pipeline quality and accelerate product adoption in a high-potential niche market.
  • • You will be responsible for identifying and engaging high-intent engineering teams and developers who are either evaluating vector search solutions or pushing the boundaries of traditional search systems. This involves deep account research, technical signal detection, and crafting personalized, value-driven outreach that resonates with a skeptical, builder-minded audience.
  • • Day to day, you will: research target accounts by analyzing public GitHub repos, technical blogs, documentation, and job posts to understand their search infrastructure and pain points; write and A/B test cold emails and LinkedIn messages that feel human, relevant, and technically credible—avoiding generic templates in favor of insight-led outreach; qualify inbound leads by assessing fit and intent, then routing them efficiently to the appropriate sales or engineering teammates; book high-value meetings by aligning your ask with the prospect’s current initiatives and ensuring mutual value from the first interaction; continuously track outreach performance using metrics like reply rate, meeting conversion, and pipeline contribution, then double down on what works and discard ineffective tactics; immerse yourself in developer communities (e.g., Discord, Reddit, Hacker News, specialized forums) where vector search and infrastructure engineers congregate to build authentic presence and gather intelligence; design and run structured outbound experiments—testing new channels, messaging angles, sequencing, and timing—to systematically expand the top of the funnel.
  • • Turbopuffer is a fast-moving, early-stage startup building the next-generation vector search engine designed for developers who demand correctness, performance, and transparency. The company values technical depth, intellectual honesty, and a builder’s mindset over traditional sales tactics. You’ll join a small, highly autonomous team where your contributions are immediately visible and your ideas are expected to challenge the status quo.
  • • You’ll work closely with the founding engineers and product team, gaining rare insight into how a deep-tech infrastructure product is positioned, sold, and adopted in real-world engineering environments. This role offers accelerated learning in technical sales, developer relations, and growth engineering—ideal for someone who wants to blend analytical rigor with creative outreach and see the direct impact of their work on product-market fit.
  • • Over time, you’ll develop a rare hybrid skill set: the ability to speak fluent engineer, build scalable outbound systems, and translate technical nuance into compelling business conversations—positioning you for future roles in growth, developer advocacy, or technical sales leadership at innovative infrastructure companies.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Builder mindset: You can create your own tools, automate repetitive workflows, and leverage scripting or no-code platforms to increase your outreach efficiency without waiting for permission.
  • • Technical fluency: You can quickly comprehend technical documentation, GitHub repositories, or API specs to understand what a company is building and tailor your outreach accordingly—no deep coding required, but strong ability to learn and interpret technical signals.
  • • Human-centered communication: You write cold outreach that feels personal, relevant, and respectful—avoiding spammy tactics by focusing on genuine insight and value, knowing when to persist and when to step back.
  • • Systematic execution: You design repeatable processes for research, outreach, follow-up, and tracking, and you consistently follow them to maintain predictability and scalability in your workflow.
  • • Urgency and independence: You move quickly to engage leads before they go cold, take initiative to figure out answers on your own, and thrive in an environment with minimal supervision.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Autonomy and impact: You’ll own the entire outbound motion from strategy to execution, with direct visibility into how your efforts contribute to revenue and product feedback loops.
  • • Technical growth: You’ll deepen your understanding of vector search, databases, and infrastructure software through daily interaction with engineering teams and technical content.
  • • Career acceleration: This role builds a unique blend of growth hacking, technical sales, and developer relations expertise—highly transferable to future roles in GTM, product, or advocacy at cutting-edge tech companies.
