  • • As an Outside Sales Account Manager for the Public Sector, you will be the driving force behind maintaining and expanding Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) sales within an established portfolio of Federal/SLED (State, Local, and Education) customers.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across all levels of public sector organizations, ensuring sustained business growth and customer loyalty.
  • • You will be entrusted with managing existing sales volumes while simultaneously engaging in proactive prospecting and acquisition of new customers, thereby diversifying and expanding our customer base within your assigned territory.
  • • The territory for this role encompasses Baltimore and Harford County, Maryland, requiring consistent day travel within these areas, with infrequent overnight travel anticipated.
  • • This dynamic sales position offers a competitive compensation structure, including a base salary complemented by a monthly sales incentive program designed to reward your performance and drive.
  • • To support your efforts, you will be provided with essential tools for success, including a laptop/tablet, a cell phone, and a monthly expense allowance to cover business-related costs.
  • • A core aspect of your role will involve developing and executing strategic plans to enhance our business presence and market penetration within your designated geographical area.
  • • You will play a crucial role in gathering and disseminating vital market insights and competitor intelligence to relevant internal channels, fostering a collaborative environment and strengthening strategic partnerships.
  • • Collaboration with leadership is key; you will actively participate in analyzing market trends and understanding evolving customer needs, providing critical input to shape effective sales strategies and initiatives.
  • • Your engagement will extend to representing HD Supply at industry events, including attending monthly business meetings for company-sponsored associations, participating in local trade shows, and potentially representing the organization at regional or national activities as required.
  • • The role demands a high degree of independence, with guidance provided only for complex or unusual challenges, and your performance will be periodically reviewed based on your output and customer feedback.
  • • You may also be called upon to provide general guidance or training to junior sales support or professional personnel, contributing to the development of the sales team.
  • • While generally working in a comfortable environment, the role involves regular exposure to factors that may cause moderate physical discomfort, such as dust or odors, and requires some physical activity, including sitting, standing, walking, and potentially lifting or handling materials up to 8-20 pounds.
  • • You will be responsible for driving profitable sales growth by identifying and pursuing new account opportunities, retaining existing valuable customers, and strategically expanding business with current clients across core and emerging industries and markets to achieve annual sales targets.
  • • A significant component of this role involves the consistent operation of a personal vehicle for business purposes, exceeding 20% of the average work week. An acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • • You will leverage your understanding of consultative and solution-selling methodologies to effectively address customer needs and present tailored solutions.
  • • Demonstrating strong organizational skills and a tech-savvy approach will be essential for managing your territory, customer interactions, and sales data efficiently.
  • • Your ability to meet or exceed sales goals in a remote or field-based position will be a key performance indicator.
  • • You will be expected to possess or develop a strong knowledge of facilities products, including hardware, electrical, lighting, plumbing, janitorial, and HVAC product lines, to effectively serve your customer base.
  • • Proficiency in essential sales tools such as MS Excel and Salesforce, or similar Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, is crucial for tracking leads, managing accounts, and reporting on sales activities.
