đź“‹ Description
- • The Patient Access Associate I role at R1 RCM Inc. is a critical frontline position that ensures accurate and efficient patient registration and access processes, directly impacting the financial health and patient experience of healthcare providers across the United States. By leveraging technology like Cerner EMR and adhering to strict scheduling and compliance standards, this role supports seamless revenue cycle operations from the moment a patient enters the care system.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include utilizing Cerner and other healthcare technology platforms to register patients accurately, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, coordinating benefits when multiple payers are involved, and routing written communications (such as referrals, authorizations, and billing inquiries) to the appropriate departments or team members. Associates are expected to communicate professionally via telephone and email using various communication technologies, prioritize work effectively during assigned shifts (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM CST), assist in onboarding and training new team members on procedures and system updates, and perform additional duties as directed by the Patient Access Manager or Team Lead to maintain operational continuity.
- • R1 RCM Inc. is a national leader in revenue cycle management, combining deep healthcare expertise with cutting-edge technology including AI, intelligent automation, and analytics to improve hospital financial performance and patient satisfaction. The company serves hundreds of hospitals and health systems nationwide, offering a stable, mission-driven environment where associates contribute to meaningful improvements in healthcare access and affordability. This remote role allows qualified candidates from across the U.S. to join a growing team committed to innovation, equity, and community impact.
- • In this role, you will develop strong proficiency in healthcare administration systems, particularly Cerner EMR, while building expertise in medical billing fundamentals, insurance verification, coordination of benefits, and healthcare compliance. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a high-volume, regulated environment that sharpens communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills—foundational competencies for advancement into senior patient access, revenue cycle specialist, or supervisory roles within R1 RCM or the broader healthcare industry.
🎯 Requirements
- • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); relevant experience in hospital or clinic settings, medical coding, claims processing, denial reviews, or Coordination of Benefits will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- • Proven ability to navigate electronic medical records (EMR) systems, with preference for experience using Cerner or similar platforms (Epic, Meditech, etc.) for patient registration and administrative workflows.
- • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional telephone etiquette and email correspondence, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, insurance representatives, and internal teams.
- • Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work independently during scheduled shifts (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM CST) in a remote environment while maintaining accuracy and adherence to protocols.
- • Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement processes, including insurance verification, eligibility checks, and basic medical billing concepts; experience with claims or denial management is a plus.
- • Commitment to confidentiality, data security, and compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare privacy regulations when handling protected health information (PHI).
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive hourly pay range of $15.00–$21.10 per hour, with actual compensation based on experience, skills, location, and role-specific qualifications.
- • Access to a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan with company match, paid time off, and employee assistance programs—details available via R1 RCM’s official benefits portal.
- • Fully remote work arrangement with a fixed schedule, eliminating commute time and offering geographic flexibility for qualified candidates across the United States.
- • Opportunities for professional growth and skill development through on-the-job training, exposure to healthcare technology platforms (like Cerner), and potential pathways into advanced revenue cycle or patient access leadership roles.
