- • The Patient Account Representative Lead plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient billing and revenue cycle operations, directly supporting the financial health of SSM Health and enabling continued delivery of essential mental health services to communities in MO, IL, OK, and WI.
- • This leadership position oversees a team of Patient Account Representatives, ensuring compliance with billing protocols, resolving complex account issues, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency in revenue cycle management.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include leading or coordinating shift operations for assigned staff and resources, serving as a technical and functional expert for team members, assigning and monitoring work progress, reviewing compliance with policies and procedures, overseeing orientation and training of associates, providing input on performance evaluations, and performing the core duties of a Patient Account Representative when needed.
- • The role also involves handling escalated patient account issues, coordinating with internal departments to resolve denials and billing discrepancies, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up on claims, and maintaining productivity and quality metrics in alignment with organizational goals.
- • As part of the HB Billing department within SSM Health, the incumbent contributes to a mission-driven organization committed to exceptional patient care, innovation, and community impact, working within a culture that values diversity, collaboration, and professional growth.
- • The position offers the opportunity to develop leadership and supervisory skills in a healthcare revenue cycle environment, gain deep expertise in Epic and SSI systems (preferred), and advance into higher-level roles within SSM Health’s finance or operations divisions through demonstrated performance and commitment to excellence.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent of 10 years of relevant work experience
- • Minimum of three years of experience in patient account representative or revenue cycle functions
- • Required experience with revenue cycle, hospital payment denials, and billing workflows; Epic and SSI experience strongly preferred
