📋 Description

• Lead end-to-end U.S. payroll processing with 100% accuracy, validating complex employee changes including bonuses, relocations, severance, and final pay for terminations in strict compliance with state-specific final pay laws.
• Serve as the primary Workday payroll system expert, ensuring all payroll data changes are accurately reflected and aligned with supporting documentation, including managing EIB loads and business process configurations.
• Conduct continuous auditing of payroll data within Workday to proactively identify, flag, and resolve discrepancies or unusual entries before they impact employee pay, maintaining a clean audit trail at all times.
• Act as the subject matter expert for Leave of Absence (LOA) pay outcomes, partnering with HR to review and process LOA payments, validate inputs, and manage Excel-based tracking tools for LOA calculations and estimated top-off payments.
• Apply deep mastery of payroll policies and complex state-specific LOA regulations to ensure accurate interpretation and execution across diverse employee scenarios.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of benefit invoices (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, HSA, etc.) against payroll deductions and enrollment data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. payroll regulatory requirements and internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance across all payroll operations.
• Investigate and escalate payroll data edge cases with strong judgment, attention to detail, and clear documentation to prevent systemic errors.
• Draft clear, empathetic SOPs and communicate complex pay impacts—such as LOA rules or deduction changes—to employees and cross-functional teams in an accessible manner.
• Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors including OneSource Virtual (OSV), Sequoia, GoNavia, Empower, and HSA Bank to ensure seamless payroll and benefits alignment.
• Support a high-growth, mission-driven environment where precision in payroll directly enables employee trust and operational integrity for a company advancing clean energy adoption.
• Work in an in-office setting in Bengaluru with daily collaboration across global teams, particularly with U.S.-based HR and Finance partners, to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation and operational excellence by bringing precision, accountability, and clarity to payroll operations that support SPAN’s mission of electrifying homes and reducing carbon emissions.

🎯 Requirements

• 7-10+ years of experience in U.S. payroll processing within high-growth environments
• Deep proficiency in Workday, including business processes and EIB loads
• Advanced Excel skills for LOA top-off calculations and benefits reconciliations
• Exceptional ability to draft SOPs and communicate complex payroll impacts clearly and empathetically
• Familiarity with vendor stack: OneSource Virtual (OSV), Sequoia, GoNavia, Empower, or HSA Bank
• CPP or FCP certification is a plus
