  • • The Payroll Operations Manager at Deel will lead payroll operations for Mexico, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery in alignment with Deel’s mission to unlock global opportunity through seamless HR and payroll infrastructure.
  • • This role is critical to maintaining trust and reliability in Deel’s platform, directly impacting the financial well-being of thousands of workers across Mexico and supporting the company’s rapid global scaling.
  • • Day to day, the manager will lead and mentor a team of payroll specialists, overseeing end-to-end payroll processing, validating inputs, and ensuring timely disbursement of salaries in compliance with local labor laws and tax regulations.
  • • They will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to reconcile employee data, validate accounting entries, and ensure seamless integration between payroll and broader HRIS systems.
  • • The manager will develop, document, and enforce standardized payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls to meet Deel’s compliance standards and adapt to evolving regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
  • • They will continuously monitor payroll metrics, identify discrepancies or inefficiencies, and lead process improvement initiatives using data-driven insights to enhance accuracy, reduce cycle time, and increase automation.
  • • Acting as a subject matter expert, the manager will provide guidance to internal stakeholders on payroll-related queries, lead training sessions, and create clear communications to promote policy adherence and awareness.
  • • They will manage relationships with external payroll vendors, tax authorities, and social security institutions in Mexico, ensuring timely filing of statutory reports, payments, and year-end documentation.
  • • The manager will conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support professional development for team members, fostering a high-performing, knowledgeable payroll team.
  • • They will partner with senior leadership to contribute to payroll strategy, system optimization efforts, and scalability initiatives as Deel expands its footprint in Latin America and beyond.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • • 5+ years of experience in payroll management, with strong knowledge of global payroll operations and compliance.
  • • 2+ years of experience managing a payroll team, including mentoring, performance management, and team development.
  • • In-depth understanding of Mexican payroll regulations, tax laws, and employment legislation, with familiarity in multi-country payroll contexts.
  • • Proven experience using payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, or similar platforms, with strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • • Fluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency is expected given the Mexico-based focus.
