Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end payroll cycle for Remote.com’s UK entity, ensuring 100 % accuracy and statutory compliance for 300+ employees paid monthly and weekly across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- • Lead the transition from legacy third-party payroll to an in-house, cloud-first stack (Rippling → Remote Payroll Engine) while maintaining zero disruption to employees and zero late-filing penalties from HMRC.
- • Design, document and continuously improve scalable payroll processes, SOPs and control matrices that satisfy SOX, GDPR and UK GAAP requirements and can be replicated in new jurisdictions as Remote expands.
- • Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll queries—statutory sick pay, maternity/paternity, share-option taxation, off-cycle corrections, P11Ds, PSA and termination payments—resolving 95 % of tickets within one business day.
- • Partner with Finance, Legal, People Ops and external auditors to prepare year-end P60s, FPS/EPS submissions, Gender-Pay-Gap reporting and ad-hoc payroll audits, always passing with zero material findings.
- • Build and mentor a team of 2–3 junior payroll analysts, instituting weekly knowledge-sharing sessions, quarterly OKRs and a career-progression framework that feeds Remote’s culture of internal mobility.
- • Monitor legislative changes (IR35, NIC thresholds, National Living Wage uplifts) and translate them into system configuration updates, policy amendments and employee communications at least 30 days before go-live.
- • Drive payroll data integrity by owning the HRIS-to-GL reconciliation, identifying and fixing root-cause variances, and publishing a monthly dashboard that surfaces cost-centre burn, overtime trends and gender pay equity metrics for executive review.
- • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to beta-test new Remote Payroll features, translating user pain points into Jira tickets that reduce manual touchpoints by 25 % quarter-over-quarter.
- • Champion a “remote-first” employee experience by creating self-service guides, video walkthroughs and Slack office hours that demystify UK payroll for a globally distributed workforce spanning 20+ time zones.
- • Contribute to M&A due-diligence and integration playbooks—calculating pro-forma payroll liabilities, mapping legacy benefit schemes and designing harmonised pay calendars that accelerate Day-One readiness.
- • Represent Remote at industry forums (CIPP, GPMI) and in customer webinars, positioning the company as a thought leader in compliant, borderless payroll.
