- • The People and Culture Partner serves as a liaison to managers and employees, identifying opportunities for collaboration in driving culture and understanding of Best Friends Animal Society while supporting staff throughout their tenure with compassion in each step of the employee lifecycle.
- • Day to day, the role involves modeling kindness and compassion, promoting a culture where employees feel valued and connected to the mission, collaborating on engagement efforts like Sanctuary Welcome Week and New Hire Onboarding, supporting inclusion and belonging initiatives, managing onboarding and off-boarding processes, serving as the primary P&C contact for an assigned portfolio, coaching managers on performance management and conflict resolution, independently managing employee relations matters, leading investigations, providing crisis support, assisting with team-building activities, building trusting relationships across the organization, partnering with the P&C team to share insights and improve employee experience, collaborating cross-functionally on people-focused programs, facilitating small-group learning sessions, contributing to internal meetings, tracking engagement touchpoints and ER cases, presenting findings to senior leadership, and contributing to continuous improvement of P&C programs.

- • In this role, the person can learn and achieve deep expertise in employee relations, organizational development, and culture building within a mission-driven nonprofit; develop skills in conflict resolution, investigations, and HR best practices; gain experience in designing and implementing engagement and inclusion initiatives; strengthen their ability to influence and advise leaders at all levels; and contribute meaningfully to a workplace culture that embodies shared values of compassion, authenticity, and progress while supporting the organization’s lifesaving mission.
🎯 Requirements
- • 2–3 years of HR experience, including at least 2 years independently managing employee relations cases
- • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on commitments, and maintain attention to detail
- • Ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively solve problems in a fast-paced environment
- • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, maintain confidentiality, and influence at all levels of the organization
- • Willingness to learn new technologies, skills, and HR methodologies
- • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Copilot, and MS Teams
- • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with public speaking and presentation experience

- • Hiring range of $56,656 to $84,000 annually, depending on experience
