Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As Lorikeet Software Pty Ltd’s first dedicated People Operations Associate based in Sydney, you will serve as the on-the-ground extension of the People function for the company’s largest office, where approximately 45 of the ~70 global employees are located. This role is pivotal in scaling Lorikeet’s people infrastructure during a high-growth phase, ensuring that talent acquisition, employee experience, and office operations are seamlessly executed to support both local and global teams.
- • You will own end-to-end employee and candidate experience across the Sydney office, from coordinating interviews and delivering exceptional first-week onboarding for new hires to managing Australia-specific administrative tasks such as insurance renewals, visa coordination with immigration lawyers, and intern program support. Your work will directly impact hiring velocity, retention, and the overall health of the Sydney-based workforce.
- • In addition to people operations, you will shape and elevate the employee experience by curating meaningful cross-geo visits for US and UK team members, proactively identifying signs of team strain or disengagement, and acting as a trusted early-warning system for cultural and operational health. You’ll also lead the production and continuous improvement of internal forums like start-of-week meetings, monthly business reviews, and all-hands, treating them as products to be measured, refined, and optimized for engagement and clarity.
- • You will ensure the Sydney office operates smoothly by managing building logistics, vendor relationships, equipment, and daily supplies like groceries, while also stage-managing presentations and demos to guarantee a seamless hybrid experience for remote participants. This role demands both operational excellence and emotional intelligence, as you’ll be expected to anticipate needs before they’re voiced and execute with high agency and low ego.
- • Working closely with the global People Ops team, you’ll share the load of broader people operations while gaining real exposure to leadership-level decision-making in a fast-scaling startup backed by over USD $50M from top-tier investors including QED, Blackbird, Square Peg, and notable operators like former Stripe COO Claire Hughes Johnson and Linear COO Cristina Cordova. This role offers a unique intersection of talent, culture, operations, and strategy — ideal for someone eager to grow into a generalist or specialist people leader.
- • You will develop deep expertise in startup-scale people operations, including cross-border compliance, onboarding design, employee experience measurement, and internal communications — all while working in a culture that values learning, ownership, and psychological safety over traditional credentials. Your contributions will help Lorikeet maintain its warm, mature, and flexible workplace as it scales, with the opportunity to earn equity that could be genuinely life-changing and to participate fully in investor updates as an owner of the business.
🎯 Requirements
- • 2-3 years of experience in consulting, operations, generalist HR, or a related people-focused role
- • High emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to read rooms, build trust quickly, and notice subtle cues others may miss
- • Strong organisational skills and a relentless bar for quality, whether managing interview days, onboarding schedules, or office logistics
- • High agency and initiative — you identify what needs doing and act without needing direction
- • Comfortable performing unglamorous, execution-heavy tasks while understanding their strategic importance to team morale and efficiency
- • Eligibility and willingness to work five days per week from Lorikeet’s Surry Hills office in Sydney, Australia
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation benchmarked against unicorn and scale-up companies, plus meaningful equity ownership with potential for life-changing value
- • Access to full investor updates and ownership mindset — you’re treated as a true stakeholder in the company’s success
- • A respectful, low-ego, high-trust culture that values eagerness to learn over pedigree and actively supports diversity and inclusion
- • A two-day paid work trial as part of the recruitment process to ensure mutual fit before any commitment
- • The opportunity to work on impactful, varied responsibilities spanning talent, culture, operations, and leadership — punching far above your title in a fast-scaling, innovative AI startup
