- • As a Paid Search Manager at Forbes Advisor, you will be a pivotal member of the Performance Marketing team, tasked with driving the success of one of Forbes' key business verticals through strategic paid search initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend the dynamic, fast-paced environment of a start-up with the stability and resources of an established, globally recognized company. Reporting directly to the SEM Lead, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing Forbes Advisor's paid search strategy, ensuring optimal performance and growth.
- • Your core responsibility will be to achieve and exceed performance targets for your designated channel. This involves not only setting ambitious goals but also meticulously tracking progress, analyzing campaign data, and identifying key drivers of performance. You will be expected to provide clear, concise, and insightful management commentary to leadership and other stakeholders, explaining any variances against targets and outlining the strategic actions being taken.
- • A significant aspect of this role is leadership and team development. You will directly manage one or more Search Specialists, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and high performance. This includes providing regular guidance, constructive feedback through one-on-one meetings, and formal performance reviews. You will establish a coaching and development mindset within your team, leading by example and empowering junior members to reach their full potential. This involves setting clear Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for your team and conducting quarterly reviews to ensure alignment and progress.
- • You will be responsible for defining both short-term and longer-term strategies for your paid search campaigns. This requires a forward-thinking approach, anticipating market trends and competitor activities. You will work closely with your team to translate these strategies into actionable tactics, ensuring that commercial priorities are met efficiently and effectively. This includes developing and implementing a comprehensive testing roadmap for your categories, focusing on identifying innovative approaches, rigorously testing new ideas, and ensuring that successful strategies are quickly scaled and communicated across the wider team.
- • A hands-on approach is crucial. While managing and delegating responsibilities is key, you will also be expected to dive deep into the details of campaign management. This means personally contributing to the execution and optimization of campaigns, ensuring that best practices are followed and that every opportunity for improvement is explored. You will review and advise your team on findings from monthly account audits, ensuring that all recommended actions are implemented promptly and effectively.
- • Innovation and continuous improvement are at the heart of this role. You will be encouraged to generate novel ideas that challenge existing best practices and push the boundaries of what's possible in paid search. Staying abreast of the latest search engine algorithm updates, PPC industry trends, and emerging technologies is paramount. You will leverage data-driven insights from various analytics tools to identify performance optimization opportunities and translate these into concrete recommendations.
- • Building strong, collaborative relationships with the Business Development team is essential. You will work closely with them to understand category goals, identify synergies, and jointly develop strategies to improve and grow owned categories. This cross-functional collaboration will be key to unlocking new growth avenues and ensuring that paid search efforts are fully integrated with broader business objectives.
- • Success in this role will be measured by significant growth in channel revenue and profit, with your team consistently hitting marketing performance targets. Furthermore, a highly engaged team, characterized by strong succession planning, low regrettable churn, and a high proportion of future leaders, will be a key indicator of your leadership effectiveness.
