• • The Pre-Certification Coordinator I plays a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate pre-authorization of medical procedures, directly supporting patient access to care and maximizing reimbursement for the Department of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
• • Day-to-day responsibilities include initiating and facilitating pre-determination processes, contacting insurance companies for benefit verification and pre-certification of surgical and nonsurgical procedures, supplying required documentation, maintaining daily surgery/procedure schedules for faculty, communicating with physicians and their assistants, tracking pre-certification status, and notifying hospital utilization and billing departments.
