- • The Pre-Certification Coordinator II (Remote) plays a critical role in preventing financial losses by ensuring accurate and timely pre-certifications for complex therapies and treatments within the Department of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing therapy and treatment plans, drug protocols, and clinical documentation; verifying insurance eligibility and authorization details with payers; completing authorization processes in EPIC; performing rechecks on existing certifications; collaborating with clinical staff and providers to resolve denials, add-ons, and peer-to-peer reviews; and assisting with appeals and reimbursement issues.
- • The role is part of a dedicated administrative team supporting clinical operations in a remote, office-based environment, contributing to the university’s mission of excellence in patient care, research, and education through efficient revenue cycle management.
- • In this position, the individual will develop deep expertise in healthcare insurance processes, medical terminology, EPIC EHR systems, and regulatory compliance (including HIPAA), while strengthening communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced academic medical setting.
🎯 Requirements
- • High school diploma or equivalent
- • 3 years of experience in clinical office, medical billing, health information management (HIM), or pre-certification
- • Proficiency with Epic EHR and insurance claim processing software
- • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clinical staff, providers, and payers
- • Detail-oriented with ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- • Knowledge of insurance terminology, managed care, and third-party payer processes
