Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join Versaterm as a Pre-Sales Engineer CAD RMS and become the technical linchpin who turns complex public-safety challenges into elegant, integrated solutions. You will sit at the intersection of product expertise, customer success, and strategic growth—translating the needs of police, fire, EMS, courts, and forensic labs into compelling demonstrations, proofs-of-concept, and deployment roadmaps that accelerate deal velocity and deepen customer trust.
- • Own the full technical sales cycle—from discovery calls with chiefs and command staff to deep-dive architecture sessions with IT directors—ensuring every stakeholder understands how Versaterm’s CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) and RMS (Records Management System) modules interoperate to create a single, data-rich ecosystem that saves lives and drives justice.
- • Craft and deliver high-impact demos that showcase real-world workflows: a 911 call taker entering an incident, dispatchers allocating units via live GIS maps, officers capturing digital evidence on mobile devices, and detectives building court-ready cases in the RMS. Your demos will be tailored to each agency’s unique policies, state reporting mandates, and legacy-system constraints.
- • Lead technical qualification workshops to map agency pain points—such as siloed databases, manual report duplication, or slow warrant processing—into measurable ROI stories. You will quantify time savings, compliance gains, and officer-safety improvements, then translate those metrics into board-ready business cases for mayors, city councils, and procurement committees.
- • Architect integration strategies that connect Versaterm with third-party systems: body-worn cameras, NIBRS/NIEM data exchanges, state crash-reporting portals, jail management, and federal databases like NCIC. You will author integration blueprints, API mapping documents, and data-migration playbooks that de-risk implementation and shorten deployment timelines.
- • Partner with Product Management to funnel field intelligence into the roadmap. After every customer engagement, you will distill feedback on UI friction, missing mobile features, or analytics gaps into crisp user stories that influence sprint priorities and ensure the voice of public safety practitioners is heard in every release.
- • Mentor regional sales reps on technical discovery, objection handling, and competitive positioning. You will run weekly “lunch-and-learn” sessions on topics such as CJIS security baselines, cloud vs. on-prem deployment models, and the nuances of FirstNet connectivity, elevating the entire team’s credibility in front of technical evaluators.
- • Support RFP/RFI responses by authoring sections on system architecture, scalability (up to 10,000 concurrent users), disaster recovery, and CJIS compliance. You will coordinate with Legal, Security, and Engineering to ensure every answer is both technically accurate and commercially compelling.
- • Travel up to 30% (post-pandemic) for onsite visits to fusion centers, training academies, and user conferences. During these visits you will run hands-on workshops, capture video testimonials, and build relationships that turn customers into lifelong advocates.
- • Champion Versaterm’s mission of “more efficient operations, better service, and more just outcomes.” Whether you’re optimizing a detective’s search for pattern evidence or helping a dispatcher shave seconds off response times, your work directly impacts community safety and trust in public institutions.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of pre-sales engineering or solution-consulting experience with public-safety or enterprise software, ideally CAD, RMS, or related CJIS-compliant systems
- • Deep working knowledge of SQL, RESTful APIs, and GIS concepts; ability to read XML/JSON schemas and craft data-mapping scripts
- • Familiarity with CJIS Security Policy, NIBRS reporting standards, and state-specific compliance frameworks (e.g., California DOJ, Texas DPS)
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Criminal Justice, or equivalent practical experience
- • Outstanding presentation skills—comfortable whiteboarding complex workflows in front of chiefs, IT directors, and city councils
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly in-person summits in vibrant host cities
- • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental-wellness coverage from day one
- • Annual professional-development stipend ($3,500) for certifications, conferences, or advanced training
- • Stock-option plan that aligns your success with Versaterm’s long-term growth trajectory
