  • • As a Principal Consultant at PerkinElmer, you will step into a pivotal senior executive role, tasked with spearheading the company's most critical and strategic consulting engagements. This position is designed for a visionary leader who can not only shape our market-facing capabilities but also drive substantial revenue growth, directly impacting PerkinElmer's trajectory and success. You will be instrumental in forging deep, trust-based relationships with clients at the highest executive levels, originating and converting complex, high-value opportunities, and actively mentoring the next generation of consulting leaders within our organization. Your mandate extends beyond project delivery; you are expected to be a key influencer in the company's strategic direction, leveraging your extensive expertise and enterprise leadership skills.
  • • This role demands a significant hands-on approach, with the expectation that you will be billable on active projects within client accounts approximately 100% of your time. This ensures you maintain deep visibility into client needs, actively support project launches, and provide essential guidance during executive-level touchpoints. Your direct involvement will be crucial in understanding the nuances of client challenges and ensuring our solutions are precisely tailored to meet their most critical needs.
  • • In terms of Strategic Client Leadership, you will serve as the executive sponsor and trusted strategic advisor for high-impact, multi-year client programs. This involves building and sustaining robust C-suite relationships, positioning PerkinElmer as an indispensable, long-term partner. You will lead the development of strategic account plans and contribute significantly to company-wide client segmentation and targeting strategies, ensuring our efforts are focused on the most impactful opportunities.
  • • Your Commercial Growth and Market Expansion responsibilities will be substantial. You are expected to personally deliver and influence between $2 million and $3 million in annual revenue, achieved through a combination of direct project delivery and proactive opportunity origination. This requires a keen eye for identifying and shaping whitespace opportunities, developing new service offerings that address emerging market needs, and contributing to innovative market entry strategies. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Practice Leaders to refine go-to-market strategies and develop compelling thought leadership campaigns that elevate PerkinElmer's brand and market presence.
  • • Practice and Capability Development is another key area where you will make your mark. You will lead the charge in developing new consulting capabilities, refining methodologies, and creating proprietary intellectual property that enhances our service offerings. You will champion innovative initiatives designed to bolster the company's competitive advantage and drive delivery excellence across all consulting projects. Guiding the evolution of our consulting practices to align with evolving client needs and dynamic industry trends will be a continuous focus.
  • • In Talent Development and Leadership, you will act as a senior mentor and sponsor for other Principal Consultants and high-potential talent within the organization. Your leadership will be crucial in succession planning, performance management, and fostering leadership development within the consulting team. You will be a champion for a culture of excellence, inclusion, and continuous learning, ensuring our team remains at the forefront of the industry.
  • • Your involvement in Executive Governance and Company Leadership will see you participating in key executive leadership forums. This includes contributing to strategic planning sessions, evaluating investment decisions, and participating in operational reviews. You will represent the consulting function in critical cross-functional initiatives and company-wide transformation efforts, acting as a public ambassador for PerkinElmer through speaking engagements and industry leadership roles. Your ultimate goal is to contribute to PerkinElmer's mission of innovating for a healthier world, leveraging your expertise to solve complex challenges and improve the lives of millions.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Engineering, or related discipline (OR a combination of equivalent experience in CQV engineering, cGMP facility start-up, project management and/or comparable military experience). Advanced degree preferred.
  • • 15+ years in life sciences, biotech, or technical consulting with a proven track record of executive-level impact and consultative selling.
  • • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide initiatives and managing complex client portfolios, with deep experience in pricing strategy and P&L accountability.
  • • Recognized thought leader with a history of shaping industry discourse, driving innovation, and building/leading high-performing teams across geographies and disciplines.
