- • Lead a local team of software engineers in Mexico City to design, build, and deploy high-performance web applications for investment managers creating and consuming buy-side research content.
- • Collaborate directly with US-based project leads and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions for financial markets clients.
- • Architect and implement modern React-based user interfaces that meet the demanding performance, security, and usability standards of tier-one investment banks and global buy-side firms.
- • Drive best practices in frontend development, including component architecture, state management, accessibility, and responsive design, ensuring consistency across all client-facing applications.
- • Own end-to-end delivery of UI solutions from concept through production deployment, working closely with backend engineers, QA, and DevOps to ensure seamless integration and reliability.
- • Serve as the technical authority on frontend technologies within the Mexico team, mentoring junior engineers and establishing coding standards, code review practices, and performance benchmarks.
- • Engage directly with clients to understand their workflows, pain points, and evolving needs, translating user feedback into actionable product improvements and feature enhancements.
- • Stay current with emerging frontend trends and tools in the financial technology space, evaluating and advocating for adoption of new frameworks, libraries, or methodologies that improve developer velocity or user experience.
- • Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos, ensuring alignment between local and global teams on priorities and deliverables.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes specific to React applications, ensuring rapid, safe, and automated releases to production environments.
- • Ensure all delivered solutions comply with financial industry regulations and security protocols, including data handling, audit trails, and access controls.
- • Act as a bridge between technical execution and business objectives, helping clients understand technical trade-offs and enabling informed decision-making around product roadmaps.
- • Represent Lab49’s engineering excellence by delivering award-winning, bespoke technology solutions that set industry benchmarks for UX in financial research platforms.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years focused on React and modern frontend development
- • Proven track record leading teams of engineers in delivering complex, production-grade web applications for financial services clients
- • Deep expertise in React, Redux, TypeScript, and modern build tooling (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
- • Strong understanding of financial markets, particularly buy-side research workflows and institutional client needs
- • Experience working in cross-functional, globally distributed teams with significant collaboration with US-based stakeholders
- • Demonstrated ability to architect scalable, high-performance UI systems under strict latency and security constraints
