📋 Description

• As a Principal Product Engineer at dash0 GmbH, you will lead the architectural vision of the backend, extending the OpenTelemetry Collector to reduce telemetry data volume intelligently and efficiently, shaping a product that developers love by eliminating vendor lock-in and meaningless toil.
• Day to day, you will architect for massive scale in ingestion and processing pipelines, process and manipulate telemetry data at scale, drive reliability and risk management by proactively identifying risks, and provide mentorship by defining code quality standards, reviewing PRDs, and improving team processes.
• You will join a high-trust, high-talent Intelligent Edge team at Dash0, an OpenTelemetry-native observability platform backed by Balderton Capital, Accel, and Cherry Ventures, scaling rapidly after Series B with a mission to bring observability closer to developers’ everyday work.
• In this role, you will establish new architectural patterns for Go services and OpenTelemetry Collector distributions, become a technical authority for the Intelligent Edge strategy within 12 months, mentor engineers across the organization, and shape the product roadmap by bridging technical constraints with customer needs.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep architectural expertise in building and scaling distributed backend systems using Go, with ability to explain trade-offs of different patterns clearly.
• Solid knowledge of Kafka and messaging systems to devise efficient and creative solutions for telemetry data processing.
• Expertise in leveraging AI and agentic coding tools to accelerate development while applying deep technical judgment to verify, refine, and own final output.
• Strong product and economic thinking to collaborate with product teams on feasibility and resource efficiency, ensuring value delivery to customers.
• Proven track record as a natural mentor and cultural leader, improving team processes, fostering psychological safety, and elevating work quality.
• Expert-level proficiency in OpenTelemetry and observability practices, contributing to improvements in both product and internal engineering observability.
