📋 Description

• As a Principal Software Engineer on Okta's Imports Platform team, you will lead the strategic initiative to modernize identity lifecycle management by migrating from a legacy monolithic system to a scalable, distributed microservices platform.
• You will own projects from zero to landing—defining scope, planning execution, making architectural decisions, and driving cross-team collaboration to deliver high-impact solutions for importing, syncing, and provisioning identities and access policies from systems like Active Directory, Office 365, and LDAP.
• You will work within a high-impact engineering team at Okta, a leader in identity security, where you’ll influence group-level architecture, mentor engineers, and shape the future of scalable identity infrastructure serving thousands of enterprise customers.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, lead technical innovation, drive operational excellence, and grow as a technical leader by mentoring peers, shaping engineering culture, and delivering measurable impact on platform reliability and scalability.

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of software development experience building highly-reliable, mission-critical software at scale
• Deep expertise with object-oriented languages, particularly Java, with proven ability to architect large-scale distributed systems
• Expert-level knowledge of Spring Boot framework, Maven, and modern Java development practices
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs, gRPC, and microservices architecture patterns
• Proven track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives and influencing group-level architectural decisions
• Excellent communication skills with ability to lead delivery discussions and obtain buy-in from group stakeholders
