📋 Description
- • As a Principal Software Engineer on the OpenShift Virtualization Compute team, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing Windows guest virtual machine support on Linux hosts within Red Hat’s OpenShift Virtualization platform, contributing to the integration of open-source technologies like KubeVirt, Kubernetes, QEMU, and Libvirt.
- • Day to day, you will design, develop, and debug features for Windows VMs on Linux hosts, write and review code in Golang, submit patches to upstream communities, collaborate with global engineering teams, and ensure code quality through unit and functional testing while engaging with open-source communities via blogs, talks, and contributions.
- • You will join a geographically distributed, inclusive team of Red Hat engineers working across time zones to advance container and virtualization technologies, with a strong emphasis on open-source collaboration, technical excellence, and innovation in enterprise cloud platforms.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in virtualization, kernel-level programming, and cloud-native technologies, gain influence in upstream open-source projects, and grow as a technical leader shaping the future of secure, high-performance Windows workloads on OpenShift.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering
- • Experience with at least one high-level language such as Golang, Python, or C/C++
- • Hands-on experience with Windows operating systems and their unique characteristics
- • Good analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
- • Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new technologies
- • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
