📋 Description

• • Own the architectural vision and technical roadmap for a next-generation SaaS platform that ingests, stores, and analyzes billions of RFID events per day from millions of IoT endpoints worldwide. You will translate complex business requirements into elegant, scalable designs that serve both Fortune-500 customers and fast-growing startups.
• • Lead by example in writing production-grade code across the entire stack: React/TypeScript SPAs, Kotlin micro-services, PostgreSQL and DynamoDB data layers, and real-time event pipelines built on Kafka and MQTT. Expect to spend at least 50 % of your time hands-on in the codebase, shipping features that reach customers within days, not quarters.
• • Champion a culture of relentless quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing (unit, contract, chaos, and load), and continuous deployment pipelines that push to production dozens of times per day without drama. You will define and enforce coding standards, security practices, and observability requirements that keep our 99.99 % uptime SLA intact.
• • Collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with silicon, firmware, and hardware teams to co-design protocols, security models, and OTA update mechanisms for battery-sensitive RAIN RFID readers and edge gateways. Your software will run inside devices the size of a matchbox and inside hyperscale clusters spanning three continents.
• • Mentor and level-up a distributed engineering organization that currently spans Seattle, Toronto, and remote hubs in 7 time zones. You will conduct architecture clinics, brown-bag sessions, and pair-programming rotations that turn senior engineers into principal-level leaders and new graduates into confident contributors.
• • Drive data-driven product decisions by instrumenting every layer of the stack, from silicon counters to React user events, then surfacing actionable insights in Looker dashboards consumed by executives, support, and customers alike. You will own OKRs around latency, cost per event, and customer NPS.
• • Spearhead security and compliance initiatives that satisfy SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and emerging IoT regulations. You will design zero-trust PKI systems, certificate lifecycle automation, and tamper-evident audit trails that delight auditors and scare attackers.
• • Contribute to open-source communities and represent Impinj at conferences, meetups, and standards bodies such as OASIS MQTT, RAIN RFID, and the Connectivity Standards Alliance. Your thought leadership will shape not only our product but the future of connected-item intelligence.
• • Balance short-term customer commitments with long-term technical bets—deciding when to refactor, when to rewrite, and when to retire legacy services. You will maintain a rolling 18-month technical roadmap that aligns engineering capacity with market opportunities and competitive threats.
• • Foster an inclusive, remote-first culture where asynchronous communication, blameless post-mortems, and psychological safety are non-negotiable. You will model empathetic leadership and ensure every voice is heard, regardless of geography or background.
