- • The Product Counsel Senior Director serves as the primary legal advisor to Rocket’s product, engineering, and services teams, providing proactive and strategic legal counsel across the full product lifecycle, with a focus on responsible AI, technology transactions, and IP management.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include leading Rocket’s AI legal program, advising on AI development and data licensing, serving as embedded legal counsel to product and engineering teams, developing product governance frameworks, negotiating technology agreements, supporting M&A transactions, overseeing export control compliance, and delivering legal training on AI governance and IP topics.

- • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in AI law and regulation, lead cross-functional legal initiatives, influence executive decision-making, and build scalable compliance programs that shape the responsible development and commercialization of AI-powered products at scale.
🎯 Requirements
- • J.D. from an accredited law school and good standing with at least one State Bar
- • Minimum of 10 years of experience in law firm and/or in-house legal positions, with substantial experience in intellectual property, technology transactions, and/or product counsel roles
- • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing intellectual property law
- • Deep knowledge of and hands-on experience with AI and machine learning legal issues, including AI governance frameworks, training data and model licensing, generative AI risks, and applicable regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, US Executive Orders)
- • Engineering or other relevant technical degree and experience in software and/or high technology industries
- • Demonstrated senior leadership capability, including ability to set strategic direction, influence at the executive level, and serve as a deputy and functional leader across a broad legal portfolio
